Jwaye Nwel! Merry Christmas, Haiti Project Supporters!
Give the gifts of Literacy and Health!
Without a doubt, 2020 has been a challenging year. We, at the Haiti Project, have learned that even on the darkest night there are stars to guide our way. Give that special someone a gift that truly gives! Click the picture above and donate to the Haiti Project in the name of a loved one and we'll send the recipient (via email or postal mail) a lovely card letting them know that they're a star on an otherwise dark night!
Congratulations to the
19 Graduates of St. Marc's school!
In spite of a challenging school year due to closures amid political unrest followed closely by a global pandemic, the students of St. Marc's school persevered! All 19 students of the Philo class (similar to our Senior class here in the US) passed their national graduation exam! We are proud of what these young students have accomplished. We are also pleased to report that our 9th graders all passed their national exams too. Good things are happening at St. Marc's because of your help.
A note from Ann Brophy of the Fundraising Committee:
In years past, at many churches during Advent, representatives from the Haiti Project would visit churches around the diocese to sell metal work, crafts, ornaments, and vanilla.
With the pandemic, there has been only one trip to Jeannette this year - a medical trip in February.
Our trips typically include visits to CAH - an artists co-op in Port Au Prince to purchase art,
So even if we were able to visit churches, we don’t have much to sell.
We would like to encourage our faithful supporters to imagine "what might our congregation do if we could gather?"
Here are some examples of what has been done in the past:
Mothers Day garden stake sale, tea parties, beer and music at local breweries, wine and cheese parties, Haitian Dinners, baby showers, concerts, Singing Rooster coffee sales, a Tour de DioMil bicycle ride, motorcycle rides etc.
This year, a few of our supporters sold their own art with all proceeds to benefit the HP..
Those visiting the sale could also had the opportunity to make a donation in someone’s name, and take an ornament with a picture of a St. Marc’s student to give them.
We encouraged everyone to become a Facebook friend and to visit the website.
We hope you'll start drawing up plans for fundraisers now, so you’ll be ready to execute when the time is right.
