Help with the South Grover Triangle Cleanup
September 14th, 2019 10am-2pm
The Grover Tunnel is a pedestrian and stroller, bike, wheelchair accessible walkway under SW Naito parkway at SW Grover St. It connects the east and west parts of the Lair Hill Neighborhood that are divided by the non-accessible 4 lanes of SW Naito. The Tunnel has long been a target for graffiti and litter. Trash has accumulated on both landscaped areas at each end. Huge branches are piled up in shrubbery.
This event will be the first of it's kind to address this area and ask the neighbors to get formally involved. A group of residents hopes that a regular cleanup schedule will result from this event. Further, we hope to develop a mural project to reduce repeat graffiti. Eventually, we hope the tunnel will be restored to shiny reflective tile that will help with the dim lighting and make the passage safer.
Meet at 10am by the SW Water and Gibbs Community Garden (Corner of Water and Gibbs, East of Naito). Supplies and refreshments will be available to all volunteers.
