A MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER

Hello, our lovely Sponsors & Supporters:

BARC wants to really make a difference, we are wanting to see our villages in Bali take responsibility for their own village street dogs. We are doing our part in helping by setting up programs in 5 villages at the moment. To achieve this new agenda, our BARC team will go in and help with making a compound for dogs in these particular villages. As a result, the abandoned dogs and pups can be cared for, medically vaccinated, sterilized and rehomed in that same village. This also includes educating locals and providing a designated vet service, food, and medical supplies. This new initiative will bring humans and animal closer. Already, we see so many Balinese loving their dogs and protecting them a far cry from the atrocious attitude I saw 30 years ago.

Every year, we see improvement here and I am so grateful for every single one of you out there who continued to support and believe in us. I appreciate the amazingly hard working BARC staff for their dedication, loyalty, and their love of our Bali dogs.

CELEBRATING GALUNGAN & KUNINGAN

The Balinese community is celebrating Galungan and Kuningan - the win of Dharma (good) over the Adharma (evil) until June 9th.

The opening day
was marked by the festival of Galungan, which celebrates deities descending to Earth, and the closing day is Kuningan, which symbolizes the deities ascending to the heavens again. The holiday is filled with home festivities with true friends and close relatives getting together.

BARC is extending our wishes to everyone, peace and happiness, and a wonderful time with your families!
BARC VILLAGE ADOPTION DAYS

BARC has helped dogs in Bali for 12 years, by providing medical treatment and new homes. Our new approach includes providing the local community the resources to provide proper dog-care in Bali villages.

WARRIORS LEGACY - THE BARC SANCTUARY

In August 2012, BARC opened Bali's first multi-species rescued animal sanctuary - Warriors Legacy.

The sanctuary currently houses around 70 dogs, 2 pigs, some ducks, chickens and around 40 monkeys – all rescued from the streets of Bali. Most of the other animals will spend the rest of their lives at the sanctuary. These animals are generally seen as unadoptable, having lost limbs or other physical impairments.

Thank you to all our BARC supporters for your donations. Without your help, we could not feed and give the loving care to our furry friend at Sanctuary. Last but not least, a big thank you to all our BARC Sanctuary staff who give their devotion tirelessly and unconditionally!

URGENT FUNDING NEEDED - SUNSET VET BILL

Our Sunset Vet bill is now up to $4,500 AUD, and we cannot continue to help Bali’s dogs without your help!

With many dogs coming into our care every week our most critical cases, like Vick, are sent to Sunset Vet for emergency care until they’re well enough to join us at our clinic in Ubud, Bali. We must pay our vet bill before we can take in any more dogs.

The majority of these dogs are survivors of abuse and abandonment and face a unique challenge of cultural stigma and lack of resources, but with your help, we can rescue, treat and rehome these amazing animals. As you can see from these photos Vick is one of our success stories, and nearly ready for adoption.

Help us pay our vet bill and we can continue this life-saving work!

STERILIZATION DAY

We recently had a successful sterilization day, sterilizing 9 females and 1 male dog.

Click here to learn more about BARC's sterilization days and plans.

Spaying helps prevent uterine infections and breast cancer, which is fatal in about 50 percent of dogs. Spaying your pet before her first heat offers the best protection from these diseases.

Neutering provides major health benefits for your male. Besides preventing unwanted litters, neutering your male companion prevents testicular cancer. Your male dog won't want to roam away from home. An intact male will do just about anything to find a mate! That includes digging his way under the fence and making like Houdini to escape from the house. And once he's free to roam, he risks injury in traffic and fights with other males.

Our goal is to offer 1 sterilization day in rural villages every 2 weeks, but we can only reach that goal with your funding and support!

MISTY UPDATE

Misty Moo is a beautiful Kintamani girl who was dumped at BARC due to her condition. Her hind legs kicked out sporadically. She had no control of their movement.

Thanks to the Fundraiser held in Nonmember 2013, Misty was able to be sent to Sunset Vet for an extensive series of tests, to determine if there was any course of treatment available to her, sadly despite expert analysis from orthopedic doctors in Canada, her condition can’t be fixed with surgery.

As a result, we had her custom-fitted with a wheely to help her with mobility!

Please hold her in your prayer's as she is still undergoing medical procedures for her leg. She will soon be fit to join the others in the Oldy Home -- once recovered, Misty will have her very own dedicated Temple Ceremony at Besakih
