A MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER

Hello, our lovely Sponsors & Supporters:

Wow, I can’t believe it's been a whole 12 years since BARC started! I still remember the first dog we picked up on the road and put on my scooter then rode home to nurse to good health. In our journey, we learned a lot of things and came up with a lot of challenges along the way, however. In overcoming many of those obstacles we’ve evolved and birthed a vision.

This quote best sums it up: “...all I can do is offer myself, wholehearted and present, to walk people I love through the fear and the mess. That’s all any of us can do. That’s what we’re here for.” - Shauna Niequist

BARC has come such a long way since then, and we couldn't have done it without each and every one of you! From all the donations we received and your encouraging words of love and support. Thanks for believing in us and continuing to support us! BARC wouldn't be where it is today without our sponsors. BARC started off with my vision to Rescue, Re-home and Rehabilitate dogs, there are a lot of other rescue teams out there who are currently doing this.

BARC is evolving and we are taking our Legacy to a whole new level, something that NO OTHER rescue team is doing - we’ve shifted our focus to community empowerment, sustainability, and international impact. On a community level, our focus is to partner with local communities in providing education, resources and empowering local villages to provide a higher level of care for their dogs.

This has been such a blessing, it warms my heart to see the Balinese get involved and in turn love and care for their dogs. You can see more of our work in Village Adoptions. To read more about our community focus see here.

Our sustainability efforts are focused on making the Warriors Legacy Barc Sanctuary land self-sufficient, finding ways to reduce our costs and monetize the land. Our next project is looking for ways to make our own food, so we don't have to rely on outside donations and are looking to open a dog boarding kennel. We still need a lot of funding with this.

On an International level, BARC’s vision is to leave our mark and legacy, in a meaningful and impactful way through collaborative efforts with Government awareness on Animal Rights Issues, and making a difference on an International level. Stay tuned for another chapter, exciting times ahead.

WINTER IS COMING - PLEA FOR TIRES & BLANKETS

BARC is calling for urgent blanket donations and funding for tires to help keep our dogs warm during the cold and wet winter months.

Our sanctuary is located in Tabanan Bali's Hillside Forest region which experiences some of the worst winter conditions.

If you're traveling to Bali in the coming weeks or months, we kindly ask for blanket donations. Alternatively, you may also contribute to our fund to purchase tires.

BENEFITS OF FOSTERING A DOG

Fostering a dog is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in their life – and yours too.

Sadly, no charity has unlimited resources. Rescuing one dog could mean that another has to stay on the streets, alone and injured. Fostering a dog frees up space at centres like BARC – allowing us to go out and help more dogs.

Dogs can have a huge, positive impact on family life. You might be unable to commit to a full-time dog, or interested in finding-out how much work is really needed. Fostering can be a positive, rewarding and educational experience for you, your partner and children.

SHOUT-OUT TO EMILY FLORY

Our latest Donation Sniffer, Emily Flory of Seattle, WA, had dedicated her birthday to fundraising for BARC. Emily had spent a lot of time at BARC assisting with the care and rehabilitation of Bali dogs while in Bali.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Emily and her donors for supporting our cause.

If you've got an idea or event coming up and you wish to become a Donation Sniffer for BARC, drop us an email at admin@barc4balidogs.org.au

OUR BUDGET IS TIGHT!

BARC HQ's rent of $6000 is due in August and we're struggling to make ends meet. HQ houses many of the dogs in our care and hosts our sterilization days.

The BARC team is making a plea for donations to help us pay our rent and purchase supplies. Currently on our woof-list is a plan to purchase F10 Disinfectant, Revolution, Bravecto, a fridge, gas cooker, as well as a stereo system to play classical music for our dogs.

We thank you in advance for all our BARC supporters for your donations. Without your help, we could not feed and give the loving care to our furry friends!

MEETING MARK VETTE - ANIMAL BEHAVIORIST

We recently had the luxury and honor of meeting Animal Behaviorist, Mark Vette, and his wife Kim! Mark has his very own TV show in New Zealand.

We spent two hours with him learning how to train dogs and he has committed to help us by providing us with an online dog training program!
