Camino to COP


Camino to COP is a pilgrimage for climate justice, which began in London and will finish in Glasgow on 31 October. Meet some of the walkers in a short video recorded as they passed through our diocese and hear why they are so passionate about the cause.

COP26, is the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference. It is scheduled to be held in the city of Glasgow between 31 October and 12 November 2021, under the presidency of the United Kingdom.

Teaching Day: Global Images of Christ

General Synod voting closes on 8 October


Voting for the Church of England’s General Synod Elections is due to run until Friday 8 October. Diocesan electors are reminded to vote before the deadline. The count will take place in the week commencing 11 October. Click here for further information and a list of the 31 candidates standing for election. 

Equal access to church buildings


A new Church of England guide for parishes to help them consider how to ensure their building is welcoming to all has recently been published. The diocesan Engagement and Inclusion Officer, the Revd Vanessa Layfield, encourages you to read the document and to reconsider what being a "welcoming" church really means. Find out more here

New safeguarding team member to help and support parishes


During the summer, Sean Augustin joined the safeguarding team at Church House as an Assistant Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser helping and supporting our Parish Safeguarding Officers. Find out more and contact Sean for support and advice. 

Church service to commemorate Guide Dogs


A special service was held at St James’ Church, New Brighton, on Sunday 03 October, to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Britain’s first Guide Dogs. Members of the Guide Dogs Association were also present.

Is God northern?


Is there such a thing as Northern Christianity in England? Can we think of God as northern and working-class? These are some of the questions York St. John University will be exploring at a free online event titled Is God Northern?
