Cruz de Cuaba Water Access: Our WASH Director, Tiven Buggy, and Project Supervisor, Valentin Brioso, have worked tirelessly with community residents to address the community's water access needs. After creating a spring box and providing the community with proper infrastructure, we are extremely proud to announce that all 35 houses + elementary school have daily access to running water. 104 people can now access water in their homes at all hours of the day. Huge thanks to all of our donors and our partners at Friends of the DR who helped make this possible!

Puente Potty Implementation in Santiago: This past weekend our Dominican team worked with our partners at TECHO to implement 5 bathrooms in Nuevo Amanecer. Our team worked 11 hour days in the 95 degree heat in order to provide 5 amazing families with proper sanitation facilities. We are tired, sore and sunburnt but it was all worth it! We plan to implement another 6 bathrooms in the coming months.

Water Filter Distribution: Our health promoters have worked with the young leaders of Las Auyamas to distribute water filters provided by our partners at Constanza Medical Mission. 17 residents have purchased filters to date and we plan to distribute a dozen more in the coming days. Over the past 2 years, our team has managed to distribute a total of 328 filters to families that were previously drinking contaminated water.
New Hires!

Some of you may be tired of hearing about our growing team, but I will continue to talk about it as we cannot be more excited to bring new motivated individuals on-board!!

This past month, Hope Tambala and Joseph McCombs have onboarded a new Software Engineer Intern. James Giergerich will be working with our tech team to help build out features within our mobile application. James has several years of experience as a full-stack engineer and has already made significant contributions to our software development.

Tiven Buggy has been working with our new Civil Engineer based out of California, Lauren Chew. Lauren is a current UC Davis student, with experience in international development and nonprofit leadership. Lauren will be working with our team to help design and ultimately implement water solutions in communities throughout the DR.

Crismary Gutierrez has hired on a Santiago Community Coordinator. Naileny Brito has been an all-star volunteer since day 1, conducting thousands of interviews and holding dozens of community introductions and prioritization meetings. Naileny has worked since she was 6 years old--selling avocados before school and wrapping presents outside of stores after class. 18 years and 15 jobs later, Naileny has found her dream job!! Naileny is currently building out her team in Santiago.

"I am thrilled to play a role in all of the amazing work happening here at Puente. I hope to show other young, motivated individuals that you can use your spare time and technology for good (and not just social media)! Through technology, we have the ability to transform communities and change lives! I have the opportunity to see that firsthand!"

- Naileny Brito, Santiago Community Coordinator.
