Possibly! Read on to hear about bathrooms, medical missions, our second training program, our most interesting cofounder, and more.
Building Bathrooms for Families in Need
This past month, Puente constructed seven new bathrooms for families (including the one pictured above) in the community of Los Gajitos. All 40+ residents in these seven homes previously had no bathroom access, meaning they were forced to dispose of their waste in open fields near their houses.
We've identified over a dozen more families in this community that do not currently have bathroom access. The cost of one bathroom (a permanent cinderblock facility disposing into underground septic pits) is just $350 USD -- sponsor another family's bathroom today using the donate button below!
Helping Medical Missions Grow & Monitor Their Impact
One highlight from May came from working with Constanza Medical Mission as they provided free medical clinics in four communities near Constanza. CMM recorded detailed baseline data on nearly 400 patients using Puente's app. Now, they're leveraging Puente's existing data to distribute clean water filters to families in need (with plenty of help from our fantastic volunteers!).
This upcoming month, we're excited to welcome back World Outreach Foundation for another week of free clinics in Barrio Las Flores. Since their last visit in January, Puente's own Crismary Gutierrez has been following up with high risk patients to monitor vitals and care plan adherence. We're excited to track the impact of these partnerships, and to continue connecting more Dominicans with high-quality care.
Other News & Notes
Our second training program starts tonight! We are beyond excited to welcome 12 new volunteers to our team in Constanza -- stay tuned for more updates
