Meet Puente's New Global Health Partners
Collaboration lies at the heart of Puente's mission -- our name means "bridge" in Spanish, and we seek to be the bridge that connects partner organizations to their communities more directly. With that in mind, we're thrilled to announce the launch of two new partnerships with global health leaders who will leverage Puente's technology and volunteer network to provide better care to more people in the Dominican Republic.

I’ve organized and taken part in medical missions all over the world for the last 30 years, and this is the first time things have really felt perfect. What you’re doing with data makes this sustainable -- you have to know the community’s needs to really help them

Chief Executive Officer and Chief Physician Officer, USMD Health System

One World Surgery

Puente is partnering with global health organization One World Surgery as they expand their mission and impact to the Dominican Republic. One World will be using Puente’s mobile data collection technology to conduct a community needs assessment and identify candidates for free surgical and primary care services in 12+ bateys comprised mainly of migrant worker residents.

Program Highlights
  • One World Surgery will continue to ignite the spirit of service and transform lives globally by replicating its sustainable model in the Dominican Republic
  • Puente’s application will help One World find patients and recruit the types of surgeons/physicians their community needs most
  • Mobile surveys will assess education, drinking water, sanitation, and housing quality in addition to healthcare needs, creating actionable data that can be used to inform other community development projects in the region
  • The program creates meaningful employment for 7 local surveyors and connects tens of thousands of residents high-quality surgical care

World Outreach Foundation

Puente recently launched a multi-year partnership with World Outreach Foundation to connect Constanza's most needy residents to free healthcare services from visiting physicians. Through this partnership, Puente will provide community diagnostics data and localized expertise to help WOFKC make the most of its medical missions in Constanza and sustain its impact year-round.

Program Highlights
  • WOFKC's first mobile clinic (January) provided free healthcare services to ~250 residents over three short days
  • Puente's app served as the patient intake form in this mobile clinic, and will be used to conduct follow-up surveys with critical patients to evaluate whether their conditions improve
  • Puente's volunteers staffed the mobile clinic, cataloguing patient data and giving free lessons on chronic disease prevention and healthy lifestyle choices
  • Local doctors who worked alongside WOFKC received 100+ new patients from the clinic, showing that residents will seek long-term care for problems uncovered in free consultations
  • WOFKC will conduct 2+ medical missions in Constanza annually, leveraging Puente's data and volunteer network to continuously improve its care delivery model and reach more residents in need

Who's Next?

We are constantly on the lookout for new partners who can use Puente's technology for good. If you are connected to any nonprofits in the DR & beyond who might fit this description, please put us in touch! (contact: paul@puente-dr)
