President's Message
On behalf of Seattle Hadassah, I am wishing each one of you and your families a Sweet New Year, filled with health, happiness and peace.  As a member, you can proudly support Hadassah for building bridges to peace through medicine, providing world-class care to people of all faiths and backgrounds and employing staff representing that diversity.  Did you know Hadassah also builds bridges to peace through education? In Israel, Youth Aliyah continues to successfully educate at-risk youngsters. Here in the US, Hadassah was a leader in getting the Never Again Education Act through Congress and passed into law so American children can learn the truth about the Holocaust.

Sadly, generations of Palestinian children have been receiving an education that helps perpetuate antisemitism. Over half a million Palestinian students in schools run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) are learning from a curricula which encourages violence, rejects peace and demonizes both Israel and the Jewish people. Hadassah is leading the effort to secure legislators' signatures on a bipartisan letter, urging UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to protect children from dangerous lessons of hatred and baseless antisemitism.
Take action here. As we start the New Year, please join me in clicking the link so you can advocate for the bipartisan Peace and Tolerance in Palestinian Education Act.  When trying out the link, it was necessary to return to the Contact Information page and click on Submit to reset and be able to send letters to all three legislators. Thank you for making a difference.  Don’t miss the upcoming program October 7 to learn smart strategies to respond to antisemitism.

L’ Shanah Tovah Tikatevu,

Let’s Get the Tools:

Smart Strategies When Responding to Antisemitism

Thursday, October 7, 2021

7:00 - 8:00pm

                   Randy Kessler                                        Susan Glicksberg

We are all impacted by antisemitic comments whether in person or online, whether spoken out loud or written on the page.  Untruthful!  Upsetting! Uncomfortable!  How to respond?  And what about when it’s our children or grandchildren who are personally confronted by hurtful antisemitic remarks?  What if Israel’s right to exist is in question?  We need tools to know how to respond to make a positive difference.  This is such an important topic that we are choosing to make it the kick-off event for the New Year.

We are excited to invite you to a Zoom event, where Susan Glicksberg,
National Grassroots Advocacy Co-chair and the Pacific Northwest Region Education and Advocacy Chair for Hadassah, will be talking to Randy Kessler, Northwest Executive Director of
StandWithUs, an international nonprofit organization that supports Israel through education and fights antisemitism. Randy is also a Hadassah Associate.
