Make it fun
Hi Fellow Athlete,
 

If it's not fun, don't do it.


That was the mantra I started 2022 with. All training sessions and races had to be fun.

I was tired of prioritizing training over work, family, and fun. I told myself that it was ok to miss a workout, and that I didn't have to obsess over hitting every single pace perfectly.

And that if I couldn't fit that 3 km swim in due to family reasons, it was ok.
How could running here not be fun?
And the irony? I am actually more consistent than I have ever been. I've missed fewer workouts that before, and actually enjoy most of my long swims. I never thought I'd get to this point.

I believe it comes from taking things a bit less seriously, and realizing that the entire point of it is to have fun.

Not dreading any workout means you do it, which means you're consistent.

So, unless you're a pro, I encourage you to embrace this fun philosophy and not to obsess over training.
