Hi Fellow Athlete,

I’m really excited to do the Melbourne 70.3 coming up on 20 March.

With my entire 2020 and 2021 seasons cancelled, this is the first I’ve done since 2019.

My mantra for this year is “if it’s not fun I’m not doing it,” so I’m welcoming this race as an opportunity to really enjoy myself, even in a competitive environment.

But of course, I still want to perform at my best and I’m hoping for a personal record.

We’ll see.

Expect AI coaching from Training Peaks

On our recent call with Joe Friel, we learned that TP is in the process of automating the training plans so coaches can focus on the softer, trickier human side of things.

“It’s just like having a secretary,” Joe said, stressing that this does not put coaches’ livelihoods at risk.

Rather, it automates the science part to free coaches up for the art part.

Pursue Pain

I’m reading the recently released book, How to Live, by Derek Sivers.

It's a super fast read of rules and principles gleaned from Derek's rich life.

Some of it is a bit extreme, and much of it is contradictory, but it's all entertaining.

And much of it carries over to triathlon, work, and life, in my opinion.

He talks about pursuing pain and I could kind of relate.
Derek is not a triathlete but his wisdom can be applied to tri
