John Leefe has resigned his membership at OBC so that he can continue the work he is already very involved in at Stretton Church. We are saddened to see both he and Julie leave us but rejoice with them in their calling to the work God is doing in Stretton. We ask God’s blessing upon them both.

Sukkot House
CTiO, with the support of its member churches including OBC, opened a house in September aimed at supporting two homeless individuals get back on their feet and move towards independence. This is going well.
An opportunity has arisen to open a second house for which Rutland Country Council has confirmed there is a need. There are already homeless people in need and the situation is expected to worsen as protections come to an end as we move out of the Covid-19 crisis.
Hope Into Action, which we partnered with to open the first house, has £100,000 of matching funding if we raise £100,000 locally to buy a second house.
There are several ways you could be involved:
- Invest in the house purchase and help to raise the £100,000 locally. This will be an investment for 5 years for which you will receive a 2% return per annum. Should there be a capital gain when the house comes to be sold, you would also benefit from that.
- There will be a need for an Empowerment Worker who oversees the running of the house, the tenants and the volunteers who support them.
- Friendship and Support Volunteers who befriend mentor and support the volunteers.
