Hospice Happenings, Fall 2022
As we pause to give thanks this holiday weekend, we wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you who support Rotary Hospice in so many different ways. Your care and commitment ensures the team at Rotary Hospice is here to provide care for those in our community who will one day call the hospice their home.

Thank you!

Moments That Mattered...

  • Beautiful summer days that have stretched into fall, allowing for countless courtyard visits with family, friends, and four-legged companions
  • A new sugar maple tree on the grounds thanks to the generosity of ReLeaf Stratford as a tribute to Rotary Hospice healthcare workers
  • The incredible generosity of sponsors and auction donors to the upcoming 4th annual Handbags for Hospice, October 27th
  • A touch of whimsy in the flower beds with the addition of rocks painted by Hike for Hospice participants
  • Family and friends of Bruce "Rooster" Withers and all those who contributed to the 3rd annual Rooster Classic Day of Golf, raising a phenomenal $7,746!
  • A very special window visit by family to sing Happy Birthday to their loved one, celebrating her 104th birthday!
  • Gorgeous floral arrangements donated for all residents to honour the memory of a special friend, Heidi, and her legacy of doing kind deeds
  • Family and friends of Sam Beauchamp, who raised funds and awareness of Rotary Hospice in his memory: Laura of Florage Flower Farm; Kelly and team at Sirkel Foods; and Ashley and Derek of Soup Surreal.
  • The ladies of St. Paul's Women's Institute who, in winding down their group, chose Rotary Hospice as recipient of their remaining funds
  • Family members who so graciously and vulnerably share their stories so that others may better understand the care offered by Rotary Hospice
  • The special people who have been remembered or honoured with a gift to the Every Day Counts campaign, so that others may benefit

Tickets are now available for this FUN fundraiser and we promise, there is more to the auction table than just handbags! This year, thanks to incredible community support, we have more than 90 silent auction items ranging from gift baskets and jewellery to suitcases, wallets, a hockeybag & more!

Our sincerest thanks also to our corporate sponsors and to those who have made in-kind donations, and donations of wine for the Wine Wall (for those attending in person!). This event would not be possible without such incredible community support - thank you!

Last year's event raised over $100,000! On October 27th, please join us so that, together, we can meet - or even exceed - that goal this year!

Three years of caring

On June 21, 2018, a groundbreaking celebration was held on the future site of Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth, marking the beginning of construction. One year later, on June 22, 2019, a ribbon-cutting celebration was held and the doors to Rotary Hospice opened.

Since that time, more than 215 individuals have called Rotary Hospice home. This number does not include those in their circle of care.

Those dates were chosen because of their connection to the summer solstice, which represents the cycle of life that all nature goes through.

As we reflect on this third Thanksgiving holiday in the house, we wish to recognize the countless supporters whose commitment and dedication allowed Rotary Hospice to become a reality. Without you, the team of staff and volunteers at Rotary Hospice would not be able to provide compassionate end-of-life care for those in our area with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Thank you for your care and support then, and now.

Rooms with a view

“Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.”

— John Muir, naturalist, author, environmental philosopher and wilderness advocate.

Speaking Engagements

Are you a member of a club, group or workplace that may be interested in learning more about Rotary Hospice?

During the capital campaign, volunteers and board members gave countless presentations to service clubs, community groups, churches and workplaces. It was a way to raise awareness of the need for a hospice in our area. Now, as we mark more than three years of operation, we wish to update the community on the impact of your giving and the role Rotary Hospice plays in end-of-life care.

If the opportunity of a public speaker is of interest, please contact Lucie Stuart, Director, Fund Development & Stewardship at 519.508.4900 x720 or lucie@rotaryhospice.ca
