Bereavement Drop-in on Wednesday, December 18 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
We know that the holidays are an especially difficult time after the death of a loved one.  If you have lost a loved one at Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth, you are invited to stop in, have a cup of coffee and some baked goodies, and meet Jaclyn our new Care & Bereavement Coordinator.  Jaclyn is available to help people connect to resources and will be setting up a bereavement group to start in January.

Moments that mattered...

Santa Visits – On November 25 the 'elves' (not to mention Santa!) dropped by to bring some holiday cheer for our residents. Once again, our hearts are full with thanks to all those who help make our Rotary Hospice feel like home this holiday season.

Decorating the Family Room Tree – Last year, as part of our Wish List Campaign to furnish and equip the Hospice, the team at Sutton Group First Choice Realtors asked staff and clients to donate towards seasonal decorations. With a tree donated by Cozyn’s Garden Gallery, Sutton owner/broker (and Hospice volunteer) Kim Graham worked alongside Brenda and Steve of Cozyn’s and Foundation Board Chair Dennis Young to decorate a tree for the Family & Children's Room.  Its twinkling lights and cardinals are bringing comfort and joy to residents and visitors alike.

Celebrating a wedding anniversary – Our amazing Kitchen volunteers not only bake delicious treats for our residents and guests, and help prepare meals for our residents, sometimes they are asked to make a cake - most recently for a special wedding anniversary!

The results are in! Smile Cookie week at our three Stratford Tim Hortons was a great success. Many of you helped decorate these cookies (expertly, we must add), and many, many more of you purchased them!  You helped us raise $24,557.85!!! From the bottom of our cookie jar, THANK YOU! Our sincere thanks also to Mark, Cheryl, Megan, Brent and Lisa from our Stratford Tim Hortons for their incredible commitment to our Rotary Hospice.
Lights of Love
In celebration of our first holiday season at Rotary Hospice, we invite you to sponsor a Light of Love with a donation in memory or in honour of a loved one.  At your request your loved one’s name will be added to the Lights of Love Recognition page.  Funds raised from our Lights of Love Holiday Campaign will ensure the continued comfort and care of those who will call our Rotary Hospice home. To make a donation please visit our website or stop by the Hospice and one of our reception volunteers would be pleased to assist you. Thank you for helping us light up Rotary Hospice with love.
Grief and the Holidays
At this time of year it is easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of checking lists and the excitement of finding the perfect gift.  But as author and pastor John Pavlovitz tells us,"Everyone around you; the people you share the grocery store line with, pass in traffic, sit next to at work, encounter on social media, and see across the kitchen table—they’re all experiencing the collateral damage of living. They are all grieving someone, missing someone, worried about someone."  Read the full article...
