Fundraising Update

We’re thrilled to share that – thanks to tremendous community support – we have now raised $8 million towards the $8.5 million capital campaign goal!!

If you’ve already given, thank you! Your support has allowed us to reach this point. If you’ve been considering a donation to the campaign, it’s not too late! Whether it’s a one-time donation, an ongoing monthly donation, or by participating in the upcoming Hike for Hospice on June 2nd (see below), there are many ways to help us raise the remaining $500,000.

Thank you again for helping build a home that cares. Thank you for caring.

Lucie Stuart, Fund Development Manager (lstuart@stratfordperthhospice.ca)

P.S. Donations of $5,000+ will be recognized on the permanent capital campaign wall inside the Hospice.

Construction Update

With approximately 30 workers on site daily, work is progressing well!
Interior stone work is complete and weather permitting, the exterior will be done by end of this week. The west wing has been painted and we'll be starting soon on the east wing. We expect the City to grant occupancy permission that will enable staff to enter the building and begin training in early June. Provided there are no construction delays we plan to admit our first residents the last week of June.

Join us on Sunday, June 2, 2019 for our annual Hike for Hospice! This year we will be hosting one Hike location in Stratford to celebrate the amazing support from everyone in Perth County. The Hike will include a 'sneak peek' of the Hospice. So rally a team of friends and family, challenge a co-worker, or join us as an individual to help support end-of-life care in our community. April 7-13 is National Volunteer Week! We are grateful for the valuable contribution our volunteers make every day.
We salute you!

While the residential hospice volunteers wrap up their online training and prepare for the hospice to open, our community volunteers are still very busy supporting several clients living at home with a life limiting illness. This program has been coordinated through Family Services Perth-Huron for many years however as of April 1st, it will have a permanent home within Volunteer Services at Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice. Clients currently receiving support will not see a disruption in service and we will continue to receive referrals as construction continues. If you have any questions about our community support or becoming a volunteer, please contact Katie Jervis at kjervis@stratfordperthhospice.ca or 226-921-0646.
Why We Care….
FIO Automotive Canada and Dave Martin, President

“We began production here in Stratford in 2003, supplying automotive parts,” said Dave Martin, FIO Canada President. “This community supported us in those early days, helping us to grow into an established employer. Now, it’s our privilege to give back to the community that has given us so much. We recognize death and grief affects us all so we are pleased to do our part to ensure the Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice will be here for years to come. We are part of this community so engaging our employees in the decision-making process just made sense.”

In an employee vote, the donation towards the Hospice will be designated towards the naming rights of the Family Room and the Resident Spa. The Family Room will be a place for young visitors who, when restless from visiting with family, can enjoy playtime close by. The Resident Spa will offer a large soaking tub with lift, and roll-in shower, allowing residents to enjoy the relaxing effects of a spa.

“We are incredibly touched and honoured by this tremendous donation,” commented Stratford Perth Hospice Foundation Board Chair Andy Werner. “Spending quality time together at the end of life is at the heart of what Hospice is about. The staff at FIO recognize the value of having palliative care close to home.”
