Post-16 and Sixth Form Courses
Dear Year 11
Post-16 Options and Sixth Form Courses

We realise the last week has been a confusing and worrying one for many of you and we appreciate how you have all been patient with us, and indeed the government, as we have responded to all these sudden changes.

Now that we are a little clearer on how grades will be issued at the end of the year and that exams will not be going ahead as planned, our focus for you as Year 11 will soon turn to your Post-16 and Sixth Form options for the next academic year.
Following our options evening in January and discussions with you individually in school, we already have a good idea of your preferred options and courses for next year.  We will be working over the Easter break to plan these options and make sure we can secure your courses as planned. You will each receive communication from Sixth Form in the first week after Easter to confirm the following;
  • Your subject choices if progressing to study A levels and BTECs in Sixth Form at SJH
  • Your vocational courses if you have chosen to follow our vocational pathways
  • How we will support you if you have decided to move on to an alternative course/college
We are aware that some of you will wish to discuss or change your options and, with this in mind, we will be contacting each of you by phone to offer any advice and to answer any questions you might have. Your tutors and teachers are still able to support you with any questions or concerns and can be contacted by using the ‘meet the staff’ section on the college website.
We will also make sure, once your courses are agreed, that you have extended summer tasks, home learning and resources which will support your Post-16 courses when schools are able to re-open.
Please be assured that your teachers will be working hard to make sure you are not disadvantaged in any way by these challenging circumstances.  As a year group, we are already very proud of all you have achieved, and it is now important that we support you towards your next steps in your education and training.

You will hear from us again very soon but, in the meantime, please continue to look after yourselves and your families and keep up with as much home learning as possible which will be a huge help as you move towards your Post-16 courses.
Yours faithfully
