Dear Parents and Students
As you will know, due to the enforced closure of the college the Year 11 students missed out on a final day. This means missing out on a “rite of passage” and all those things that come with it including shirt signings, photos and also Prom. As it stands many of those things still aren’t able to happen but Year 11 still needs to end.
I have decided to hold a virtual shirt signing via google classroom. Students sign in and open the latest item in the stream. It will lead them to an area where they can leave messages for fellow students and staff. Staff will also have the chance to do this for students. This will then be collated and sent home.
Usually at the Prom there are also a number of things shown to students. This will also be done via Google Classroom in the form of a video assembly. This will be held on Friday 19 June. On the day the video assembly will be held at 11am and repeated at 1pm and again at 3pm. This will then mark the end. We still hope to hold an event for Year 11 but at this time are still unsure when this is likely to be.
For students to log into Google classroom they must use their college email and password. The code for the classroom is kmajo64 . If any students need their email address please request it by emailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Finally, I’d like to say how proud I am of this year group. From when I took over as Pastoral Leader 4 years ago they have been a pleasure to work with. Of course, there have been some testing times, but on the whole having the opportunity to watch this group of young people grow into the most wonderful young adults has been one of the highlights of my career. I am saddened that as it stands we haven’t been able to say goodbye properly, and haven’t yet been able to celebrate leaving College in the normal fashion, but am hopeful that we will one day. Until then I’d like to thank you all for your support and wish you well for the future.
Mr J Beynon
