I hope that you and your families have been keeping safe and well in these strange times.
As you are aware, GCSE Maths and English retake and Functional skills classes are now using Google Classroom for your home learning. I have had the opportunity to have a look at some of the brilliant work which is being set by your teachers and have seen that many of you have responded really well to this change in how you learn.
However, some of you may now feel that you are behind on the work and, therefore, don’t want to log on. Your teachers don’t want you to avoid logging on to Google Classroom because you may be behind. Whatever you haven’t done so far, we can deal with in the future - what matters now is that, for the final seven weeks of this academic year, you get involved. We want every single one of you logged on and having a go, including returning work to your teachers so that they can see how you are getting on and how they can support you. It is important that you keep working on your Maths and English so that, when we do return to lessons as normal, you are in the best possible position to continue and to achieve the grades you need.
If you are not sure how to get logged on, or if you are unsure of where to start, your parents have just received a letter explaining the different types of support that are available from the College. If you need some specific support with Maths or English, or just some general support to help you to get motivated and organised, the help is here for you so please just ask your parents to let us know. For any of you who have not joined these groups by the end of next week, we will need to contact home and to discuss this with your parents.
When we return to College, our focus will be on getting these vital qualifications completed and it is important we make the best possible use of the time we now have to practice and improve our Maths and English.
In the meantime, if there is anything you need, or if you have any questions, remember that we are here to help you.
