Your tutor for Year 8
Dear Parents/Carers

It is with great excitement that I can now announce who your son/daughter has as a tutor for Year 8 and beyond. At Sir John Hunt, we operate with a team of tutors for Year 7 who are dedicated to the induction and first year of student life, hence the change. I know that all of the current Year 7 tutors are very happy with the way the tutor groups have settled into the College and can happily pass them on to what will be the team for your Cohort 24’s journey through secondary education.  We call them Cohort 24 as they are expected to sit their GCSE’s in 2024.

I could introduce the team but feel that some words from the tutors is more personal.

The new tutor for 8 Destivelle will be Mr M Mackie. “I am excited to meet and get to know each one of you as we start a new chapter together, see you in September!”

The new tutor for 8 Hillary will be Miss K Carroll, “I've worked at SJH for 3 years and I am now a Science teacher - I taught a lot of you Science last year. I'm looking forward to being your tutor in September!"

The new tutor for 8 Lowe will be Mr R Benney, “Hello Team Lowe, most of you have had me as your Computing teacher! Looking forward to being your tutor as well in September.”

The new tutor for 8 Stephens will be Mr J Walker, “Hi I'm Mr Walker and I'm a Maths teacher/tutor here at SJH. I'm buzzing to have Stephens again!! I have just said goodbye to my former tutor group 11 Stephens who I had since they started way back in 2015. I know you guys will be just as much fun as they were and hopefully we can work together to give you the best tutor experience. No pressure, but we won sports day last year so I'm expecting the same next year! Looking forward to meeting you all in person (whenever that may be). Stay safe and don't be afraid to drop me an email if you have any questions or queries.”

7 Tenzing will remain with Mrs Perring going up into year 8 but she will also be joined by Miss K Lewis,
“Hello 8 Tenzing! I’m Miss Lewis. Some of you will already know me as an English teacher but I am also a tutor – in fact you will be my 5th tutor group at SJH! I’m looking forward to getting to know you all better when we return to school. I know Mrs Perring has high expectations of you and has set up a good morning routine with you all. I am looking forward to starting our new morning reading programme with you all as there are some excellent books we will read together.
Kindness to others is really important to me so I am looking forward to seeing – and rewarding - all the nice things you do for each other when we return!”

Before students return in September I am setting up new google classrooms for the new tutor groups. This will be the perfect place for students to ‘meet’ their new tutors and get to know them. Below are the codes for these new groups. The first tutor group to have a full list of students join the classroom will get tutor group prize in September! Should Google Classroom not be accessible for any reason, please let me know.

The codes:
7 to 8 Destivelle- jgzqwqv
7 to 8 Hillary- 4jkxs2t
7 to 8 Lowe- whkboeq
7 to 8 Stephens- lm76kmh
7 to 8 Tenzing- f7rc32y
I hope you enjoy getting to know your new tutors, in what will be an exciting time to come back to Sir John Hunt.

Yours faithfully,
Mr Beynon
