MEGA Names New President

Michigan Electric and Gas Association has selected Daniel Dundas II as their President. Dundas comes to the association after almost two decades of service to the Michigan legislature in various capacities. Daniel will begin his tenure on January 5. Read more.

Grand Rapids Named Best Convention City
and Center in Midwest

Travmar, which produces intelligence for event planners, recently named its list of the nation's top convention cities and centers. Grand Rapids was awarded the top spot for best city to hold a convention or conference in a strong Midwest region. Walkability, affordability, safety, exciting tourism options, and destination offerings through tourism infrastructure were all factors in deciding the winner of this 'best of' list. MRLA Survey Suggests the 33% of Restaurants Won't Be in Business by mid-2021

The Michigan Restaurant and Lodging Association released the results of a survey this week in which 33% of restaurant owners responded that they will be out of business by mid-2021. Even more alarmingly, 66% of hotels reported that they can only last another six months at current capacities and revenue levels. Read more.  

Michigan Ranks Third in Nation for Christmas Tree Sales

For Amy Start, Executive Director for the Michigan Christmas Tree Association, it's game time for her members. With economic instability across the state due to the pandemic, Start and the association were concerned about a decline in sales. As it turns out, 2020 has been a record-breaking year for growers the state. Read more.

The Gratiot County Community Foundation is seeking a skilled and dynamic individual to lead the foundation’s strategy and operations to ensure it fosters and supports a vibrant community. Preferred applicants will have five or more years of experience leading a community foundation with $5 to 20 million in assets. The total compensation package ranges from $80,000 to $95,000 annually based on qualifications.
