FHSR is excited to announce our
Tuition - FREE
Summer Music Therapy Classes
for kids age 5-8
Our Tuition-FREE Summer Music Therapy Program will meet one hour a week for 6-weeks and will focus on listening to and making music to encourage careful listening (auditory training); singing and playing songs to support speech and language development; making music together as part of social and cultural connection with others; music making as part of personal enrichment and self-esteem.  Listening to and making music with friends and family can provide fun adventures and new, exciting sounds to explore.
Participating in music therapy can also provide a good foundation to help DHH kids in school music, when attending music events in the community, or informal music fun at home.  The summer music program will include siblings as well as kids with hearing loss; therefore, this can be a fun family event!

Join our music therapists for a 6 week fun musical session where we will be working on actions items such as social skills, self-esteem, listening skills and articulation. Music Therapy Class will be a great way to spend an hour with other DHH kids just like yours.  Classes are offered in 3 different locations at 3 different times to work best with your schedule!

What is your WHY?
Getting to know the FHSR Board of Directors and why they joined our Board

Join Mals Pals and FHSR as they Move For Kids
June 12, 2022 at Soldier Field Stadium Green
Over the years we have been so inspired by the FHSR Move for Kids participants and the amazing team of Mal’s Pals – Mallory Evangelides and her mom Board member Jennifer Evangelides.
Our community has come together under blue skies and rainstorms, because we’d do anything to provide a healthier future for every child with hearing loss.
  • Move for Kids is a free 3-mile walk and rally for our patients, families, friends and neighbors.  Move than just a walk, Move for Kids is a celebration of community, family and what’s possible when we come together for the kids we care about.
  • 100% of the donations made to our team Mal’s Pals and FHSR will be used to support the Audiology Department and FHSR Programming including the Hart Family Cochlear Implant Educational Liaison

FHSR has a new Partner Advocate Children's Hospital

We are so excited that Advocate Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois is a new partner hospital for our Loaner Hearing Aid Program

Last month we presented Advocate with $7500 to help them build out their pediatric loaner hearing aid program to reduce the time that children go without hearing when their hearing aid is being repaired or replaced.  The FHSR Directors and Associate Board Members are dedicated to making sure no child goes without hearing and we are thrilled to serve the southern suburbs through this partnership.
Advocate serves a very diverse population including African Americans, Hispanics, Whites (Polish, Greek, Arabic, etc.), & Asian patients, and approximately 80% of their patients received Medicaid insurance.
There existing program only had a small number of loaner devices that are old technology, so adding new technology to their loaner bank will be extremely helpful for their patients. They plan to utilize the loaners for hearing aid patients whose devices are in for repair & for newly identified cochlear implant candidates for their hearing aid trial.
