Newsletter #3 : Our Second Month On The Road and August Plans!

🚴The Culinary Cycling Adventures Continue🚴

From communal meals celebrating community gardens to workshops introducing different aspects of food, July followed June full of new faces and gardens, food and creativity!
To keep this newsletter short and sweet, here are the photo highlights from July which beautifully illustrate what we've been up to!

Photographs from July's events, meals and workshops with Fork In The Road, in Craigmillar and Wester Hailes.

The continued support from the Fork In The Road team of volunteers has helped the project to do all of these weird and wonderful things. All of this has been made possible with the support of these brilliant people! Thankyou!

A special 🎉thank you🎉goes to Karin Chipulina who supported Fork In The Road to meet organisations and communities in Craigmillar. Karin is the link between these beautiful green spaces in this part of the world and does amazing work bringing people together to cultivate and create. Thanks for all of your support and help Karin, and see you soon!!

Across the City

This mobile kitchen is designed to move and though it was a wrench to leave Craigmillar after such a great couple of months, at the end of July it was time to take the project to a new part of the city.

Edinburgh has a network of cycle paths and Fork In The Road cycled from Craigmillar to Wester Hailes - starting on the Innocent Pathway, up onto the Meadows and then along onto the Union Canal - with only the smallest section of road connecting these cycle paths.

We filmed the journey and the footage is in the editing suite, being chopped together to take out all of the shaky cycle & camera work - we're looking forward to sharing what crossing from the South East to the South West of Edinburgh looks like!

This Friday the 10th of August we'll be at the Grass Roots Remedies garden on the canal for another foraging session and shared meal. All are welcome to come along and learn more about foraging, herbalism and mobile cooking! For more info see here
We will be sharing pancakes and information on local growing projects at the South West Edinburgh Needs You! event with EVOC in Juniper Green on the 14th of August. It's an opportunity to give your feedback into how you would like to build an older people’s forum to influence local issues important to you. You can reserve your space on the day here.

Alongside these public events we will be working closely with WHALE Arts in August bringing the kitchen into their garden to work with their groups to celebrate and highlight the garden and green spaces around the building. We'll share their creations with you in the next newsletter.

So if this all sounds like it's up your (or your community's) street, and you're in the South West of Edinburgh, then get in touch to see how Fork In The Road can come to you!
