Child Care Access

How does child care access impact the Missouri workforce?

There are not enough child care workers or facilities to meet demand.

The lack of affordable child care options negatively impacts job opportunities, especially for women.

There is not enough research to determine the extent to which different state policy approaches affect child care access.

Commission recommends salary increases to address Missouri teacher shortage

A state commission Tuesday laid out its recommendations to improve teacher recruitment and retention in Missouri, including a push to raise starting salaries that currently rank among the lowest in the nation.

Missouri officials look to shine light on tax issues affecting solar farms

As part of legislation approved last spring, the new Task Force on Fair, Nondiscriminatory Local Taxation Concerning Solar Energy Systems is tasked with compiling a report to help lawmakers enact a policy on how local governments can tax solar energy projects.

Applications for our Executive Policy Fellowship continue to be accepted on a rolling basis. MOST Executive Policy Fellows assist state agencies with incorporating data management, analysis, visualization, and integration practices to improve program design and implementation according to agency priorities.

Executive Policy Fellows also have opportunities to build policy-relevant skills by participating in professional development activities hosted by MOST and by contributing additional capacity to team projects as appropriate.

Calling scientists and engineers interested in policy writing experience!

We are seeking members of a Community Science Note Editorial Board who can assist in writing and reviewing science notes for a variety of settings, including general information, responses to public comment opportunities, and in advance of public hearings. We request that writers and editors have scientific training such as advanced degrees and/or extensive research experience.
