Vertical Assets for Fixed Wireless Internet

How do fixed wireless devices impact broadband access?

Fixed wireless internet can provide internet to sparsely populated areas, avoiding costs associated with fiber.

Transmitters are most effective on tall structures called vertical assets.

States can increase accessibility to vertical assets by mapping, vetting and ensuring access to assets.

Fentanyl Testing Kits

Do fentanyl testing kits reduce drug fatalities?

1 in 54 MO deaths are caused by opioid overdoses; 90% of these are from fentanyl.

Individuals with a substance use disorder report that fentanyl testing kits made them feel safer from overdose, engage in safer drug use behaviors, and be more likely to seek treatment.

Half of states and D.C. have legalized the use of fentanyl testing kits by medical or harm reduction services personnel to prevent overdoses and deaths.

Eminent Domain (Update)

What are the effects and uses of eminent domain?

Eminent domain allows the state or federal government to claim private property for public use as long as there is just compensation.

Definitions of public use can vary based on the legal jurisdiction.

There is limited and inconsistent research on the economic effects of eminent domain.

Missouri voters approve Amendment 4 to increase Kansas City Police funding

The constitutional amendment means that Kansas City will have to spend at least 25% of its budget on the police department, up from its current 20%. The KCPD is governed by the state of Missouri through a Board of Police Commissioners, unlike any other major U.S. city or police department in Missouri.
