TRILLION TREES NEWS

AUGUST 2019

SPRING IS ALMOST UPON US!

Tree planting season is almost over for another year. We have the last few dates for those who would like to experience tree planting.

Our Nursery and ecological restoration teams have done an amazing job in connecting people with nature and providing opportunities for communities to learn more about Western Australian native plants. Trillion Trees specialises in bringing people together to grow and plant trees. So by supporting us you are supporting ecological restoration and growing community spirit.

If you have enjoyed these opportunities to grow and plant trees, do help us spread the word and get your friends involved.

Come spring and summer and we will be having seminars and workshops for all ages. Keep an eye out for these.

PERTH CITY FARM REUNION DINNER

They would love to see plenty of Trillion Trees folk there! In true City Farm style it's a pot luck dinner and dance - BYO drinks and food and good vibes from Odette Mercy and her Soul Atomics!

UPCOMING PLANTING EVENTS

AUGUST/ SEPTEMBER PLANTING DAYS

You're invited to join us for one of our planting events. Please register - places are limited for many of our events and by registering we can let you know if there are any changes. We won’t stop planting if it rains. Rain is good for the seedlings, but we will cancel a planting if there is an anticipated thunderstorm or if there are weather warnings or other risky situations that will affect us.

SPECIAL LUNCHTIME PRESENTATION - September 25th, Guildford Meadows - Chris Ferreira, The Forever Project "Waterworld! Healing our landscapes through the magic of our waterways". Often neglected these unique and precious parts of our environment can be healed through a range of techniques. Come and learn how this can be done through organic methods and some of the strategies we can adopt to enhance the wildlife value of these vital ecosystems.
Trillion Trees planting projects are provided through funding from

Join us to plant trees to help restore river health.

We’ve been planting sections of the Helena River in Woodbridge. These plantings will help improve water quality and provide habitat for wetland fauna.

The last planting for this section is on Saturday 21 September with morning and all-day planting sessions available. Mike and Mandy Bamford will present an insect hotel building workshop at lunchtime.  To register CLICK HERE

The ‘Helena Valley Riparian Restoration and Education Program is funded by the Australian Government through the National Landcare Program – Environment Small Grants.

UPCOMING SPRING WORKSHOPS

Wonderment and Nature Connections

How connected are you to nature?
Where do you find wonderment?
What do these things have to do with work and life?

Dr Sandra Krempl is a community engagement facilitator and a strategic planner. She has worked across Australia and overseas. Through the stories Sandra has gathered about how people experience nature, creativity and wonderment, she helps us unlock the ‘secrets’ of what makes places and communities special.

This workshop is suitable for individuals and those involved in community, business and government. It is a workshop that articulates the many tangible and intangible layers required in the pursuit of sustainability. For more information contact sandra@trilliontrees.org.au

A world audit of trees in 2015 shows there are just 3 trillion trees left in the world - that's half what there used to be.

We, as a global community, need a new tree planting target - to plant 1 trillion trees!

If each person in the world plants 140 trees, we will achieve this!
