Our Partners: SafeCity & Touch Network
Recognition for two of our groundbreaking partner organisations
🏆🌐👏

Safecity, our partner organisation which crowd-maps sexual harassment and abuse in public spaces, has won the Visualiser award in this year's UN SDG Action Awards!

The SDG Awards recognise the work of organisations and individuals who are working to advance the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and form part of the SDG Global Festival of Action.

Safecity has been awarded the 2019 Visualiser prize in recognition of their work using creative visual interpretations of data to highlight the importance of the SDGs to decision-makers and the public. By gathering a new data set of sexual violence (reported, in many cases anonymously, by victims), Safecity addresses SDG 5: Gender Equality, and provides vital information for the creation of solutions.

Touch Network, another of our inspirational partner organisations, has also been recognised for their amazing work, being named as 'One to watch' by the Social Entrepreneur Index.

Debs Carter, the founder of Touch Network (and one of our brilliant past Social Impact Leader speakers!) has been named as 'One to watch' in this prestigious index of entrepreneurs running businesses with social purposes.

We're so glad to see such well-deserved recognition for our partner organisations, and are excited to continue following the progress of Safecity and Touch Network in future!

Social Impact in Focus

Mazzi - Affordable, trendy, eco-friendly

Launched at the beginning of this month, Mazzi is a new authentic fashion brand supporting wildlife rescue and mental health initiatives across the UK and Ireland.

Mazzi was founded by University of Southampton student Amy Morgan, who received commendation from the judges at the New Entrepreneur Zone at this year's Venturefest event for her vision and drive. Mazzi creates beautiful, environmentally friendly products and raises awareness for a variety of key issues, including mental health and climate change. Mazzi products are created using 100% organic cotton and water-based inks, packaged in 100% recycled and biodegradable materials and made using 100% green energy.

Furthermore, 20% of profits from Mazzi go to mental health and wildlife charities. The first initiative supported by Mazzi, Kinsale Youth Support Service (KYSS), is a mental health charity based in County Cork, Ireland (pictured above with founder Amy). KYSS supports young people in the community with information and promoting understanding around mental health. A second charity will be announced soon!
