Empathy Labs Southampton at the Social Impact Lab restarts its work in the spring

This social venture aims at building empathy skills amongst young people about experiences of displacement and asylum seeking. We are doing this by delivering tailored teaching to young students about what ‘home’ means and the refugee journey.

In collaboration with Southampton schools, we expect to change perceptions and encourage empathy amongst our youngest neighbours.

Watch this space for future events and get in touch if you would like to get involved!

Social Innovation Spotlight:
Liberty Kitchen

The next time you’re in London and on the lookout for something to eat, consider visiting Liberty Kitchen. This social enterprise, the creation of Janet Boston, works with prisoners and ex-prisoners to produce and sell delicious street food. Liberty Kitchen creates a range of meat, fish and vegan balls and sells them in various markets around London, including a regular stall at Leather Lane.

The prisoners and ex-prisoners involved with Liberty Kitchen are supported with training, relevant qualifications, jobs and opportunity – all part of the Kitchen’s mission to reduce reoffending and facilitate personal development among its associates to help them prepare and adjust the men for life on the outside.

Their motto: Ball no chain
