We have been carefully monitoring the pandemic for the last months in order to determine whether we could hold our annual meeting this June. As you know, we had to postpone the symposium last year due to COVID-19.
While things are improving and a massive number of people is being vaccinated, it is certain that some version of social distancing will be still required in early June and most people will be conservative with traveling and risking infection (many state governments in the U.S. not-withstanding). Additionally, people will have to make their mind and get travel arrangements in April or early May at the latest when the pandemic will be still hitting the population. We cannot financially run the conference with social distancing in place. Fallingwater won’t allow us to run our symposium without social distancing unless the state of Pennsylvania changes its present rules (which is unlikely for large groups) … but even then Fallingwater would need to decide to follow along. All these issues bring great uncertainty.
Based on this situation, we have decided to postpone again our ACSF 12 symposium. This is very disappointing to all of us. We had been waiting with great hope and expectations to meet again in person at Frank Lloyd Wright’s masterpiece.
The good news is that, foreseeing this situation, we discussed with Fallwingwater and agreed on a new date for our symposium: June 1-5, 2022. So, put it down in your agenda. We know that it’s far away but, this time, it will happen!!!
If you are one of the authors, speakers, workshop leaders, or panelists who were going to present work at ACSF 12, we will be contacting you soon.
Thank you for your understanding. We wish you all our best.
