tonight's pick-me-ups

Things we're doing to unwind and get cozy before bed tonight:

🧖‍♀️ Indulging in #SelfcareSunday
without spending a single penny. FYI there's no *right* way to do self-care and there's no need to buy the overpriced bath bombs either. Take a walk, journal, and do you.

🛋️ Doing some emotional clearing,
among other home cleansing that will get you decluttered in just an afternoon. *Bonus* this checklist includes eating something delicious, so you know we're in.

🍲 Meal prepping
soup to warm you from the inside out all Winter. The best part: you can hack these recipes together from your Trader Joe's haul in a matter of minutes. Hello, tomato and red pepper soup with channa masala.

🌙 Staying up late (again). To our fellow night owls, enjoy
this hilarious list of relatable things for people who stay up past 1AM. "When you eventually sleep and wake up in the morning, you HATE yourself for how tired you are. But guess what – you do it all again that evening because it's so worth it!"

bedtime stories

Reads when you're up late anyway. Here are tonight's round-up for every occasion:

LIFESTYLE  For when you deserve more credit ~ Forget about treating resolutions as one big life-changing commitment and start to appreciate the small stuff because it all adds up. "The only resolution I ever kept was more like a challenge. It was my sophomore year of college, and I promised myself that for 365 days, every day, I would write down one good thing about each day. By the end of the year, I had a planner full of good things. Most of them were just a few words, 'Family' or 'A good first date' or 'Writing all day.' I remember looking back on all of the good things on January 1 and seeing a single word or phrase and knowing instantly what moment or memory it was connected to."

CULTURE  For when reality is even better than The Crown ~ The Sussexes are royally shaking things up and tbh, it's thrill for everyone. "It’s possible for this break to be both canny and justified. There’s a reason, after all, that it’s unusual for a member of the royal family to publicly renounce their duties and move across the ocean. The whole premise of royalty is that it is a matter of blood. Giving a metaphorical two weeks’ notice on a birthright is a radical move, one that indicates the couple felt they had no gentler way to negotiate for what they wanted."

SELF  For when practicing gratitude is more than saying 'thank you' ~ Take the new year as an opportunity to start with a fresh attitude by learning how to apologize ~ "There are different ways of saying 'I’m sorry,' just as there are different ways to say 'I love you.' And each of us may require different words and actions to heal when we’ve been wronged ourselves. Understanding the languages of love and trust in our relationships is crucial to keeping them healthy, and knowing how best to apologize is just as important. Though not directly correlated to love languages, the five apology languages have been offering me clues as to how to approach relationship repair."

FUN  For when now is the time to make moves ~ Shout-out to Big Capricorn Energy. This is how you'll reach your 2020 goals, according to your zodiac sign. "The fact that we're always given the gift of kicking off a new calendar year with Capricorn season's hardworking energy on our side is simply a sign of the universe's perfect harmony and alignment, IMO. Capricorn is all about getting the job done, and getting it done right. Its energy is highly goal-oriented, pragmatic, and inspires us to work tirelessly toward achieving whatever it is we've set out to accomplish. When it comes to setting 2020 goals for yourself, there's no better astrological vibe to help kick you into full-on boss mode — so astrologically, we're starting things off on the right foot."
