"I don't really care what others think of me. You're not going to please everybody."
~ Lisa Vanderpump
tonight's pick-me-ups

Things we're doing to unwind and get cozy before bed tonight:

🙌 Being present, even when the week is jam-packed. Mindfulness can be hard to maintain when you're constantly on the run, but small things like journaling or actually running can lend some peace of mind.

🧥 Staying warm in style. Winter blues can have us down, but
these outfit combos for cold weather is just the inspo to spice up your wardrobe and your mood.

Keeping an eye out. Don't be surprised when you start to see allll the new trends of 2020 popping up.
Even Etsy has its own predictions from everything chartreuse to a roaring 20s comeback.

👄 Sealing our lips. No surprises that cold weather brings along weeks of chapped lips as well.
These mask treatments will *transform* your lips from cracked to baby soft.

bedtime stories

Reads when you're up late anyway. Here are tonight's round-up for every occasion:

For when you're still figuring out the meaning of 'new year, new you' ~ New year's resolutions are tricky enough to make and even more of a challenge to keep. Make a commitment to generally improving these areas of your life instead: sexuality, relationships, social issues, and health. "While we all have different eating and exercising habits, sleep is a non-negotiable. Proper sleep can make or break your day, so try to prioritize it above watching the next episode of your latest Netflix show. The key is to start small when striving for a healthier lifestyle ... Understanding just how well (or not well) you sleep will make changing those habits more attainable."

MONEY  For when you can worry about shopping 'til you drop for another time ~ Introducing microloans: a new way to make some purchases and pay them off later. "For young people or just those of us (*raises hand*) who readily admit to not being great with managing money, microloans also offer a psychological barrier to buying excess shit... at least when compared to credit cards. Sure, most of what’s available for purchase via microloan doesn’t fall into the category of absolute necessity, but the fact is, it’s a lot easier to absentmindedly swipe a credit card than it is to go through the approval process for a loan with the likes of Affirm. Oh, and your local bar definitely doesn’t accept microloans, so no sweat there (yet)."

CULTURE  For when food is the best part of anything ~ First dates happen over dinner and people bond over preparing a home cooked meals, which is exactly why food deserves to be front and center in our favorite reads. "In Guillory’s world, love happens over take-out pizza on the couch, while cooking enchiladas, post-sex while snacking on room service, and making plans for afternoon tacos. It’s there to the point where fan and author Roxane Gay commented that the characters ate 'CONSTANTLY' in The Wedding Date. For Guillory, that’s the point. How are we supposed to tell who these people are if we don’t know what they eat?"

FUN  For when understanding yourself is the way to self-growth ~ Can your birth month actually be helpful in predicting your strengths and weakness? "Psychological astrology dictates that every person arrives on this planet with specific proclivities, strengths, and liabilities. It's a way of understanding what our 'life school' is this time around: where we're meant to explore and grow, and where we are naturally strongest. An understanding of our own birth charts supports us to live into the complete fullness of our unique selves and to better understand and appreciate the uniqueness and potential of others."
