"I do not see myself as a footnote to someone else’s life."
~ Martha Gelhorn
tonight's pick-me-ups

Things we're doing to unwind and get cozy before bed tonight:

Brewing up something good. Perk up your morning routine with a Collapsible Coffee Press. This portable gadget will help you curb your caffeine cravings no matter where you are.

🎙️ Queuing up our podcast list.
Be sure to check out these new binge worthy picks. From murder mysteries and women empowerment to our favorite power couple (hint: rhymes with llama), there's something for everyone on the list.

🏃‍♀️ Kick-starting our day. Finding the motivation to exercise isn't always easy (don't we know). Try figuring out your purpose to train beyond the exercise itself or even wear your workout clothes to bed
to get you one step closer to a consistent workout routine.

🌞 Letting our signs decide. Wake up and glow when you
put your morning routine in the hands of your zodiac sign. Calling all Capricorns: making a list is a go-to move for creating your best morning.

Reads when you're up late anyway. Here are tonight's round-up for every occasion:

CAREER  For when you need to make yourself a priority ~ Investing in your own self-worth, professionally, is one of the healthiest and smartest things you can do for your career. If you don't, nobody else may either #selflove. "Instead of wishing that my employer would teach me new things, I decided to teach myself. Instead of relying on my boss to promote me, I decided to promote myself. Instead of waiting around for someone else to teach me a new skill or continue my education or help me develop my career, I just decided to do it my damn self. Taking control of my work life has been one of the most rewarding experiences, so whether you’re in a professional rut, feeling underutilized, have a side gig you want to take to the next level, or suddenly realized that you may be working in the wrong industry (or, like myself, all of the above), here are some ways to invest in yourself when your employer isn’t doing it for you."

SELF  For when Phoebe Waller-Bridge has got it going on ~ Fleabag is certainly having its (well-deserved) moment and we're totally here for it. PWB has opened up a well of possibilities for women to be completely themselves, flaws and all. "It’s impossible to watch Fleabag and not want to be her. There’s something so liberating about the way Fleabag (the only name the audience knows the character by) completely owns her flaws. In fact, the entire show feels like the culmination of badass, independent and, yes, imperfect women reclaiming the title 'hot mess.' These women are challenging stereotypes in all sorts of ways, and it makes for highly compelling viewing. It’s thanks to these trailblazers that, in 2020, being a 'hot mess' is being a whole, realized person — complete with faults and surprises. And Fleabag exemplifies this with humor, style and brilliance. It’s undeniably empowering to see complex women unapologetically being themselves on-screen."

CULTURE  For when a single rose can lead to a million opportunities ~ The Bachelor has been around for years, feeding us with the drama and heartbreak we crave each week. However, it seems that the show has become the contestants' ticket to future fame instead of actually looking for love. "Today, the rapid expansion of the influencer marketing industry, and Bachelor Nation’s stronghold in it, has not only complicated the 'right reasons' narrative, it has threatened the basic mechanics of the show ... 'The contestants have become celebrities in their own right,' Ashley Iaconetti told me. 'They don’t necessarily need The Bachelor anymore after they get off the show because they have their own platforms to expose themselves to celebrity, to money, and all that.' The chance to become an influencer has become the defining not-right reason to go on The Bachelor(ette)."

LIFESTYLE  For when you have a whole Winter indoors to declutter your life ~ The KonMarie method has revolutionized the business of tidying up. So why shouldn't it spark joy in every aspect of your life, such as your Netflix habits or even your thoughts? "Allowing negative thoughts to fill your headspace can negatively impact your mood, relationships with others, and other aspects of your life. While it’s easier said than done, applying the KonMari method to get rid of negative thoughts involves sitting with them and figuring out where they’re coming from."

🧘‍♀️ Try the Bridge Pose to stretch out after a long day of sitting 🧘‍♀️
  • Find a place you can comfortably lie on your back.
  • Bend your knees so your feet are flat on the floor about hip-width apart and your fingertips can slightly graze the backs of your heels.
  • From there, keeping your chin slightly tucked, press your feet into the floor and send your hips up to the ceiling on an inhale.
  • Hold for about 15 seconds, then on an exhale, lower back down slowly.
☁️🌛 Goodnight and go tuck yourself ☁️
