tonight's pick-me-ups

Things we're doing to unwind and get cozy before bed tonight:

🙌 Feeling ourselves. Bring out your best feelings this year with small ways to help achieve them. Working from home and healthy fudge are delightful to get you started.

🧀 Snacking our hearts out. Cheese and charcuterie boards are our guilty pleasure, but achieving the perfect platter can be daunting.
Turn to these ideas for inspo that will impress your guests without giving away your secrets.

🛒 Impulse buying whatever we want. Time to cash in your Amazon gift card from the holidays
for little luxuries like magic ice globes that are better than your jade roller or a portable wine cooler. #treatyoselfthursday

Befriending our vices. Being career-obsessed and canceling plans aren't necessarily bad, but they could impact your relationships and personal goals.
Understand your vice according to your zodiac sign to find the balance.

bedtime stories

Reads when you're up late anyway. Here are tonight's round-up for every occasion:

 LIFESTYLE
For when it's not how you do it, it's when ~ If there's anything to learn from this month, it's that new habits and routines are hard to stick to. The trick may depend on changing the day you decide to start a new endeavor. "It's Monday, right? Well, it depends on who you ask ... If you really must pick a day for launching into your new you, [time management and productivity expert Laura Vanderkam] believes Thursday is the one to try, especially if you work a conventional Monday-to-Friday job: 'Fewer things are starting up, so you can concentrate your energy and focus on your new routine. You take your lunchtime walk with fewer competing priorities.'"

RELATIONSHIPS  For when splitting the check is a chore ~ Sure, Venmo helps but talking about money can get awkward when making plans with friends. This is how to deal when it causes drama. "We all know, intellectually, that most people are fairly private about their finances, and that everyone’s definitions of 'broke' and 'worth it' and 'reasonable price for a bridesmaid dress' are going to be different… but it’s easy to forget that when we want certain stories to be true, or when everything would be easier if others’ perspectives were aligned with our own. If you’re frustrated with how a friend is acting with regard to money, it can be helpful to remember this, and to try to approach the situation from a place of genuine curiosity and generosity."

SELF  For when a slow-cooked stew is the answer to all your problems ~ Messy breakup, bad day, argument with a friend? Don't worry, your slow cooker has your back. "Over the next weeks and months, I kept cooking, and the food kept getting better. Better than double sweet potato, no nuts, add avo. And the more I cooked, well, the less 'otherwise occupied' my heart became. Using a slow cooker doesn’t make me a chef. It doesn’t even make me original. But it is what helped me heal. And over a year later, I still prefer my creations to that copycat order."

WELLNESS  For when your even your self-care has a personality type ~ Your inner introvert would probably rather stay in, but your outer extrovert would invite the gals over. Whatever your style, what matters most is that you are taking care of yourself. "Whether you identify as an introvert or extrovert, the most important thing is making sure you honor moments of recharging. We all deserve to rest, relax, invigorate, and find excitement in our own ways. We all deserve to create a life for ourselves that allows us to fulfill those needs. And beyond moments of recharge, it is very important to prioritize what you want and resist the potential urge to compare or offer yourself to anyone else."
