tonight's pick-me-ups

Things we're doing to unwind and get cozy before bed tonight:

🏃‍♀️ Working out the worries without even having to leave your living room. When anxiety strikes next time,
try a high energy workout to shake off the feeling. Hint: turn your Netflix binging into a exercise game.

🏢 Expressing gratitude. This should be an everyday habit, but we know it can be hard. Especially in the workplace,
boost morale for you and your coworkers by trying daily shout outs or little weekly awards to start.

📚 Picking up a new read. With Spring around the corner and vacations on the calendar, it's time to grab a new book to take with you.
Use this quiz to discover which one rather than aimlessly wandering the bookstore aisles.

🤣 LOL-ing at these memes. Astrology posts can eerily ring true, but they can also give us a well-deserved laugh.
Tbh these astrology memes are *too* relatable. #piscesproblems

Reads when you're up late anyway. Here are tonight's round-up for every occasion:

SELF  For when girls just wanna have fun ~ Whenever you want. A 'culture calendar' is a hack to keep track of all the happenings wherever you live. "For a long time, short of piling a million things onto my personal calendar, I wasn’t sure how to remember all the things I was curious—but not yet committed—to attend. How could I keep track of events that I didn’t seem to hear about until they were over? ... Our collective leisure time may be dwindling (a problem for another time), but now I can fill mine with activities that surprise and interest me instead of always defaulting to what I know (unless I want to). My culture calendar has enabled me to spend less of my brain space remembering happenings — or regretting that I never do — and more time appreciating the liveliness that drew me to this city in the first place. A blessing."

WELLNESS  For when your dog could use a little therapy too ~ It's not uncommon at all! Dog psychics exist to improve communication between pup and parent. "[Sonya Fitzpatrick] can, according to her, communicate telepathically with animals (yes, even over the phone). She’s had the gift since childhood, she says. She’s also written three books, hosted a show on Animal Planet (The Pet Psychic, obviously), and been a guest on MSNBC. Basically, people want to hear what she has to say about their pets—and are willing to pony up (heh) the cash for her $300 per 30 minutes rate. Oh, and about 17 seconds into our session, I cried ... She asked him to chill on the barking for me, which is sort of impossible to track to see if it worked, but whatever, I’ll take it."

LIFESTYLE  For when the wine section of the grocery store is just wall-to-wall confusion ~ Level up Wine Wednesday by using more than pretty labels to choose your next bottle. Wine can be complicated for many and the industry doesn't make it much easier. "Navigating through the glut of options, however, is still tough for most buyers. And that’s part of why an entire occupation exists to help consumers choose a bottle: the sommelier. In restaurants, the sommelier’s job is “having the wine discussions with tables and taking care of the wine service,” says longtime somm Caleb Ganzer. Many restaurants with serious wine programs have extensive bottle lists, often in the form of a fat binder. These lists can be daunting for consumers to parse, so the sommelier’s job is to be an expert on every wine they serve and to be able to supply guests with recommendations that suit their tastes and budget."

CULTURE  For when Gwyneth Paltrow's vagina candle isn't the only thing heating up ~ We've moved on from the perfumes and make-up kits to now celebrity candles. "Naturally, the celeb-approved wick is a status symbol, essential to an Instagrammable bathroom shelfie. But, perhaps there's something deeper flickering underneath. In some ways, these candles feel akin to a celebrity tell-all. Celebrity perfumes offered fans a way to smell the way their icons did; candles provide them with the scents celebs dream of in their homes, when they’re soaking in a tub. There's an implication, particularly when the name invokes the most intimate part of a celeb, that we're learning something about their inner life or overall vibes."

Cherry cheesecake bites (optionally boozy). Ingredients: maraschino cherries, cream cheese, powdered sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, graham crackers crumbs, and vodka if it strikes your fancy. Directions: Soak cherries, mix the rest, dip, chill out while it chills for an hour.
