I received a phone call from a beautiful soul who expressed concern about a sudden return of nightmares. We had a chat about what might have triggered this to which he responded that they arose again after he heard the news of the attacks on Ukraine. I myself do not watch the news as I find it too heavy for my empathic soul to hold. This young man, also aware of his empath role, was struggling with a desire to help but not knowing how to do so. How many of us feel this same sense of helplessness as we sit witness to despair, fear, and destruction as outsiders looking in from afar? Wondering, How can I help? Some turn to prayer, some donate money to relief efforts, some hold others in a heartfelt intention as they meditate, while others might reach out to government officials expressing their opinions about how we should be helping as a nation.
We must keep in mind, however, that self-care is critical, as an invasion unfolds. Particularly if we allow ourselves to be inundated with disturbing images of war, along with a barrage of frightening stories. By honoring our own inner peace, we are adding to the collective peace of our world.
Human bodies consist of 99.999999999% empty space. Hard to wrap our heads around that, right? We feel solid yet we are made up of billions of sub-atomic particles composed of swirling energy. We ARE energy. Everything around us is energy. Therefore, when we say, "Sending thoughts and prayers your way" when we want to offer support in some way, we truly are helping. By sending those love-filled, hopeful, and peace-inspired wishes out into the universe through our thoughts and prayers, we are shifting our energy and, as a result, the energy of the space, the world, the universe around us.
Create your safe space, as a gift to you. And if you'd like to offer your space for a moment in time, as a beautiful intention to those needing safety, please do so. Perhaps meditate in your safe space (whether it's a physical space or imagined) and send those thoughts and prayers of peace and safety into the lives of whomever your soul feels moved to support.
We can choose to be help-FULL even from the other side of the planet.
