Dear Parents

Independent Schools of the Year: Green Award for Environmental Achievement

We are thrilled to share the fabulous news with you of Bury Grammar School's success at this week's awards ceremony run by the Independent School Parent magazine. On Monday, at the ceremony held in central London, Mrs Jane Stevens and Mrs Kerry Lynch, who oversee our pupil led Eco Committee, were delighted to accept on behalf of BGS, Independent Schools of the Year: Green Award for Environmental Achievement.

Please read more about this here.

We would like to congratulate our motivated, committed pupils for all their enthusiasm and hard work in making our school more environmentally friendly and also to thank teachers Miss Kate Bird and Miss Georgina Allen who have played key roles in the success of Eco Committee.

We are very proud of all of them!

Open Events

We would like you to know that your sons and daughters were absolutely outstanding ambassadors for the School at last week's open events. They were enthusiastic, positive, polite, articulate, well-mannered and friendly, striking exactly the right welcoming and professional tone when greeting our visitors. Many thanks to them and to you for giving up your time to support the School.
This year we were delighted to welcome 33% more visitors than last year and we know they went away impressed with the School and with your children.

Again, we were immensely proud of our pupils - they really are a joy to work with.

Sixth Form Open Evening

Thank you for all the positive comments we received about Sixth Form Open Evening. BGS offers an outstanding and unbeatable Sixth Form experience, which we hope we were able to convey on Tuesday evening, including our bursary and scholarship offering.  Should Y11 pupils or parents have any questions about this, please don't hesitate to contact either one of us, Mrs Hammond, Head of Sixth Form, or Mr Newbury, Deputy Head of Sixth Form.

Y6 to Y7 transition

We enjoyed meeting with Y6 pupils last week and are looking forward to welcoming them into Senior School for their Experience Day on Wednesday 5th November. A letter will be coming home in the next few days to Y6 parents about this and more generally about transition into Senior School - an exciting time!

All the best for the week ahead

Best wishes
