As the sun threatens to come out things are warming up at Bury Grammar School in the final few weeks of this academic year.
Junior girls were amazing in their performances of 'Wind in the Willows' earlier in the week, rehearsals are well under way for the various celebrations and Prize Givings to come and Y11s and Y13s are now able to have a well-deserved period of relaxation following the end of the external examinations season.
As ever, there is a considerable focus on the future at the end of the Summer Term. Transition events are planned to ensure pupils progress smoothly and happily from one year group to another and, on Thursday evening next week, we look forward to meeting with all our new Year 7 pupils for September 2019 at their Welcome Evening.
Yesterday, we welcomed nearly 200 Year 5 children to Bury Grammar School for Senior School Taster Day - the highest number we have seen in the school. We hope they had a really great day and would like to thank our outstanding new Senior Prefect Team for being magnificent ambassadors for BGS. If any Y5 parents have any queries at all about transition into Senior School, you would be most welcome to contact one of us and we would of course be very happy indeed to talk to you.
We spoke yesterday with one visiting parent who had been a pupil here; she said 'It is great to see how the school has moved on and lovely to see that its heart and ethos remain the same.' We couldn't agree more!
Wishing you all the best for the week ahead,
Mrs J Anderson, Principal of BGS and Headmistress of BGSG
Mr D Cassidy, Headmaster of BGSB and Vice Principal of BGS
