Y11s begin study leave
Our Year 11 pupils began their study leave today and enjoyed the usual ‘good luck’ breakfast in our Sixth Form café. They also attended their final assembly as Year 11, held by Miss Imtiaz and Miss Cawtherley, Heads of Year 11. We wish them all the very best for the coming weeks of revision and examinations, and we look forward to seeing them all again on welcoming them into the Sixth Form in only a few months’ time. Photos of their last day in Year 11 can be found here.
Head of Faculty Interviews
We hope you enjoyed our interview with Mr Watts, Head of the Science Faculty, in last week’s newsletter. If you missed it, don’t worry, you can find it here.
This week it was the turn of Madame Banks, Head of the Language Faculty, to be interviewed by two of our Year 10 pupils. In the video you will hear Madame Banks talk about her excitement for sharing her own passion for languages with the pupils and students at BGS. Thanks to Olivia and Harriet who did a great job as our BGS reporters once again. You will find the interview here.
Senior School Experience Day for current Year 5 pupils
Thursday 20th June sees us open the doors of our Senior Schools to Year 5 pupils, not only from BGS Juniors, but from surrounding primary schools. The day gives pupils an insight into life as a senior school pupil at BGS, allowing them to meet our pupils and staff, explore our facilities and immerse themselves in the taster lessons on offer. We look forward to this day each year as it is often the first visit to BGS for these pupils, as they enter the admissions process. If you know of anyone who you feel would like to sign up for the Experience Day, you will find further information here, or contact our Admissions Team who will be happy to help.
Head Girl, School Captain and Teams for 2019-20
Last week we appointed our Senior Prefect Team for 2019/2020. This week in assembly the official hand over took place, as our Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl and School Captain and Vice School Captain handed over their medals to their successors. We wish all our newly elected students the best of luck in their leadership roles. You meet our newly elected Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl along with our School Captain and Vice School Captain in our article here.
Information regarding the full list of prefect roles will follow next week.
Y13s Leavers' Assemblies
On Thursday our pupils were treated to an assembly held by our Year 13 students. As they approach their last week at BGS before embarking on study leave for their upcoming A Level examinations, it has become a tradition for the students to put on a show for our younger pupils. Each year the students participate in an assembly our younger pupils won’t forget and the class of 2019 definitely delivered on this promise. The boys’ assembly gave a unique take on The Oscars as our students had devised their very own award system, whereas the girls’ assembly culminated in a whole school dance along in the Roger Kay Hall - audience participation was a requirement as everyone danced along to ‘Fireball’ under the instruction of lead choreographer Jasmine! You will find photos here. Thanks to all our Year 13s for their involvement in these special assemblies. We hope your last week at BGS is a special one.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and a fabulous week ahead.
