 Academic Year 2018/19
Message from the Headmaster and Headmistress

Dear Parents

Given that we are on the verge of exam season in Senior School and Sixth Form, we hope that your daughters and sons are working hard and following a careful revision programme. If they would like any help with any aspect of their studies or dealing with the pressure of exams, please don't hesitate to get in touch with their form tutor, who will be very happy to help.

Plans for 2019-20

It is the responsibility of senior managers at this time of year to be putting plans in place for September. You have already had some information from us about sporting developments which you can find here and Bury Grammar School's strategic plans (click here); we are also sending you today details of the faculty model of academic leadership which will be fully implemented by September 2019 along with details of two curriculum developments (click here) and our plans for developing the estate (click here) in order to give pupils access to even better facilities and resources. If you have any feedback for us on our plans, we would be pleased to hear from you. It goes without saying that every initiative is about making our pupils' educational experiences even stronger.

Pupil Committee

Given the exciting changes that are being implemented at BGS to benefit our pupils, it is only right we are taking time to talk to them about the use of our estate and the developing curriculum.

A Pupil Committee has been established to look at a number of projects planned for September, including plans to develop a Pupil Leadership Scheme and celebrations for our 450th year.

We look forward to hearing our young people's ideas.

Founders' Day

We like to think that May is Bury Grammar School's month - the time at which we celebrate the founding of our School. Preparations are coming to fruition for Founders' Day next Friday 3 May; we hope to see any parents who are able to come and support us at that time. You can find more information regarding timings for the day in the letter we sent home earlier this week here.

All the best for the week ahead

Mrs J Anderson, Principal of BGS and Headmistress of BGSG

Mr D Cassidy, Headmaster of BGSB and Vice Principal of BGS
