This month we go BEYOND Caren's kitchen and bath design and retreat to La Presa Vineyard in Solvang, CA... where Caren and Andres harvest the grapes for their wines.
Nestled in the Santa Ynez Valley is La Presa Vineyard, the vineyard where Caren and her winemaker partner, Andres Ibarra, harvest the grapes for their Tierra y Vino wine label. Andres has managed and harvested the vineyard for 40 years, not only developing a life-long relationship with the terroir, but with owners, Eric and Carleen Caldwell. Harvest season generally happens in October and ends with outdoor entertaining with family and workers in the vineyard. This lush vineyard hosts a two-story house on the property that was featured in County Home magazine this past summer.
As a Vintner, Caren loves to pair an easy-to-make recipe with a selected wine. This recipe features fresh peaches harvested from the vineyard's orchard, and pairs with Caren's favorite coffee!
With a nod to the harvest season, Caren gathered fresh peaches from the vineyard for her delicious Peach Cobbler. This easy to make recipe will not disappoint. Paired with vanilla ice cream and a rich Mexican coffee, it is the perfect finish to any meal this autumn. Caren's current favorite coffee is the, "Mexico La Mixteca Blend" from Intelligentsia.
Although many of Caren's favorite finds are unearthed while traveling, this one was discovered closer to home.
Caren loves Jeni's Honey Vanilla Bean to compliment her cobbler. Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams are available at 49 "Scoop Shops" nationwide, but can also be delivered (on dry ice!) straight to your doorstep. With no synthetic flavorings or dyes, it is a "sweet" and memorable gift to send anyone and for any occasion.
