Welcome to the SHTAC
Spring 2022 Newsletter 

In February 2022 SHTAC joined the new School of Healthcare Enterprise and Innovation, in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton.  The new school is led by Dr Cheryl Metcalf, Principal Enterprise Fellow.

 
The school brings together enterprise groups in the Faculty which aim to achieve maximum impact on the economy and society through significant knowledge exchange, performance and partnerships.
 
The school incorporates groups formerly part of the former Wessex Institute, including SHTAC and the NIHR Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre (NETSCC).

On April 1st SHTAC began a new five-year contract with the DHSC to produce independent health technology assessment reports (TARs) to inform NICE guidance on treatments for the NHS in England.

In 2021 we welcomed two new Research Fellows to the team: Emma Maund joined the Evidence Synthesis Group in August, and Marcia Takahashi joined the Health Economic and Modelling Group in October.

Research and Enterprise Enquiries - Our services

As part of the School of Healthcare Enterprise and Innovation, we at SHTAC are keen to share our expertise and collaborate with potential partners on research projects, consultancy and training.

We can provide expertise in health economics (e.g. modelling, clinical trial economic evaluation), medical statistics, information science (designing literature searches) and systematic reviews, SHTAC is a highly skilled group with experience to provide solutions.
