45 Years of Driving Diversity in Journalism
Dear friend,

This year marks the Maynard Institute’s 45th birthday, and we wanted to take a moment out of our busy schedule to celebrate and reflect on how far we’ve come. After all, we could all use something to celebrate these days.

A lot has changed since our founding in 1977, but our commitment to the work of creating more inclusive newsrooms across America remains the same. In that time, we’ve trained thousands of journalists through our Maynard 200 Fellowship, Oakland Voices program, and other newsroom training sessions.

All of this helps us achieve our goal of expanding the diversity pipeline in news media and dismantling structural racism in newsrooms. We couldn’t be prouder to do this work, and we couldn’t do it without the support of people like you, who believe in our mission.

We’d venture to guess that you believe pretty strongly about the need for a more diverse and inclusive journalism industry. So what do you say? Will you help ensure that we get to celebrate many more birthdays by donating to Maynard Institute today?

Yes! I’ll join the party by supporting Maynard Institute!

We can’t wait to see what the next 45 years hold for us. Thank you for believing in the work we do.

With gratitude,

Evelyn Hsu
