Maine Craft Weekend October 1st & 2nd

Gardiner is a featured city with a hub of activities!

We are so happy to be a featured city again this year during Maine Craft Weekend! There will be numerous activities throughout the downtown area and beyond. Check out event highlights in Gardiner below. or visit mainecraftweekend.org for a listing of statewide events. Plan your route and get crafty!

Margaret Melanson Pottery

 287 Water Street

Join Margaret Melanson at her studio and shop for wheel throwing and decorating demonstrations! 

Open Sat, Oct 1 from 10am-5pm and Sun, Oct 2 from 12-5pm. Demonstrations will occur at 1pm each day. 

Jewelry Making DIY with 5Beads Handmade

Monkitree, 263 Water Street
Saturday 10/1, 12-2pm

Tonya Gorman of 5Beads Handmade will be demonstrating jewelry making and you are invited to join in! For $15 you can make a pair of earrings (with Tonya’s help if you need it) that you can keep for yourself or give as a gift. Beads, paper discs, findings and tools will be available for you to create a one-of-a-kind pair of earrings.

Glenn Glazier Woodturning Demos

Monkitree, 263 Water Street
Saturday 10/1, 10am-2pm

Woodturner Glen Glazier will share his passion for woodturning while demonstrating the skill and techniques of turning small bowls, pens, and handles. After the demos, Glazier will have additional items to be included in the shop’s trunk sale.

Come visit the Alan Claude Gallery, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and take in some nice art!

Purple Shed Woodworks Open Studio

Meet Jason Ledoux, the maker behind Purple Shed Woodworks! Tour the studio from 10am-3pm.

Selene's Fly Shop Grand Opening!

Check out Gardiner's newest downtown business! At the grand opening of Selene's Fly Shop you can try your hand at the art of fly tying. Fly Tying demos by Selene of Maine will be happening throughout the day. She ties in her hands without the use of a vise as Carrie Stevens of Rangeley, Maine did nearly a hundred years ago. Carrie Stevens flies and artifacts will also be on display.

Pots at Bateau Brewing

Saturday 10/1, 12-5pm


Mary Kay Spencer of Pots In Maine will be showcasing her handmade stoneware pottery at Bateau Brewery. Functional ware, pub mugs, bowls, mugs vases to mention a few.

Circling The Square Fine Art & Press

Saturday 10/1, 3-4pm


Open studio all day. Circling the Square Fine Art Press member Kris Sader will be printing a 3-plate color monotype on press. This is an exciting way to develop original imagery and serial prints.

Distillery Tours & Tasting

Sebago Lake Distillery, 463 Water Street
Saturday 10/1, 5:30-8:30pm


Sebago Lake Distillery will have its tasting room open from 5:30-8:30 on Saturday, October 1st. Free tours, free samples, and excellent craft cocktails at an affordable price.

Run Amok Mead's Grand Opening & International Observe The Moon Night

"Run Amok with us at the Grand Opening Weekend of Maine's newest meadery - Run Amok Mead! Saturday's event begins at 6:30pm. This evening is in conjunction with NASA'S International Observe the Moon Night. We will have telescopes and more games and prizes. There will be moon-gazing, moon-walking, mead tastings, meadery tours - we can't wait to see you! Start the weekend off right on Friday afternoon at 3:30, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, thanks to the Kennebec Valley Chamber."

Swine & Stein Brewfest: Gardiner's Party In The Street!

Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 12-5pm in downtown Gardiner

Swine & Stein Brewfest takes over Gardiner’s historic downtown Water Street on Oct. 8th with all-day tastings of 24 Maine craft beverage producers, delicious pork and other tasty dishes from food vendors and restaurants, a full lineup of live bands, and entertaining games all day-long. Presented by Camden National Bank, Swine & Stein is beer festival that's more than just beer! Learn about all about the varieties of beers, wines, ciders, rums, meads, and more from those who know it best - the people who make it! Gardiner Main Street’s annual fall beer festival also includes a full line up of great music, tasty food vendors, fun games and activities all day long.

Volunteer & Get In For FREE!

Swine & Stein Brewfest draws over 1,200 people to our beautiful downtown. This amazing event would not be possible without the help of dozens of volunteers working to make it a fun and successful day.

From early morning setup, to packing up at the end of the event there are many different opportunities and time slots to help pitch in. Volunteering for this event is really fun!

Any volunteer who signs up for a shift will get free designated driver (non-drinking) admission, or may upgrade to a discounted tasting ticket for just $5.

Proceeds from Swine & Stein Brewfest help support Gardiner Main Street’s mission to create a vibrant downtown community. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Johnson Hall Presents: Maine Event Comedy
The Blind Pig - Next Level, Saturday, October 1, 7:30pm


Johnson Hall's Stand Up Comedy Series, hosted by Mark Turcotte, presents an evening of hilarious stand-up comedy! This month's lineup will include Dennis Fogg, Trent Wells, Joe Flynn & Ann-Marie Keene. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased at johnsonhall.org or by calling the office at (207) 582-7144 Tuesday-Friday between 12-3pm. Location is The Blind Pig's Next Level event space, entrance is at 11 Mechanic Street in Gardiner. This location is not handicap accessible.

Jazz Guitar Brunch with Steve Lynnworth

Gardiner Food Co-op, 263 Water St, Every Sunday, 10:30am-1:00pm
Stop by The Gardiner Food Co-op for some live jazz music featuring local musician Steve Lynnworth and weekly special guests. You can grab a coffee, a delicious breakfast sandwich or panini and relax in the cozy cafe.

The Mix- Face to Face Social Networking Event

The Blind Pig Tavern - The Next Level, 11 Mechanic St
Gardiner Main Street is excited to resume our live Mix Social Networking events! Co-hosted with The Blind Pig Tavern and held in their new event space The Next Level. The entrance to the 3rd floor event room is located at 11 Mechanic Street. This free event is open to all, whether you live, work, volunteer, or visit Gardiner. This event is a great way for those new to the area to connect with others. Celebrate our community, learn about events and happenings, and network with others. This “after hours” event takes place the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 5-6:30pm. Folks typically drop anytime in for as long or as short as they would like. Find and share the event on Facebook

Save Your Breath 5k Run/Walk

Saturday, October 15th  8am-12pm
All proceeds benefit Free ME from Lung Cancer's programs ~ Research, Early Lung Cancer Screening and Radon Air Abatement program for single family low income homeowners. Wood Pallet Paint Night-Pumpkins at Bateau Brewing

Johnson Hall's Halloween Dance & Costume Party

Brookside Barn 394 Marston Road, Gardiner
Saturday, October 22 at 6:30 - 10pm
Come dance the night away to your favorite tunes played by DJ Lil Mic Ray! Come as you are - or dressed in costume. If you come in costume you can enter to win fabulous prizes in our best costume contest! Enjoy beer and wine from our cash bar. Fire pit, games, food truck and more! This is a fundraiser for Johnson Hall and helps us to provide great programming for our community. $25 per person, space is limited so purchase your tickets today. Ticket Link

Downtown Gardiner Trick or Treat is back!

Save the date! On October 28th from 3-5pm children are invited to dress up in their costumes and come to downtown Gardiner for some Halloween Fun!! From the Gardiner Public Library to the A1 Diner you will find many of of our downtown businesses handing out treats of all kinds! Find the event on Facebook for more info and updates. 

Donate to the "Candy Bank" located at the Gardiner Food Co-op at 269 Water Street. Our businesses each hand out over a thousand pieces of candy for this event. Community members can donate a bag or two of candy or other store bought treats to offset the cost for our local downtown businesses.
