Swine & Stein Brewfest is beer festival that's more than just beer! Over 20 craft beverage producers from across Maine will be serving samples all day. Learn about all about the varieties of beers, wines, ciders, rums, meads, and more from those who know it best - the people who make it! Organized by Gardiner Main Street, this annual fall beer festival also features a full lineup of great music, tasty food vendors, fun games and entertainment all day long. General admission begins at 1pm, or a limited number of tickets are available for the premier VIP tasting hour from 12 to 1pm. Volunteer for the Brewfest & Get In For FREE!

Your help is needed to ensure a successful Swine and Stein event! We have many different types of volunteer jobs and time slots. Volunteers also get free non-drinking admission or can upgrade to a tasting ticket to enjoy after their shift for just $5. Aside from our eternal gratitude, you'll also be invited to a volunteer recognition event a few weeks later. Proceeds from Swine & Stein support the operations of Gardiner Main Street, and your help is greatly appreciated!

KJ Readers Choice Awards: Nominate Your Favorites!

The Kennebec Journal is accepting nominations until September 8th for their Reader's Choice Awards. Each entry will be included in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate. 

Show your favorite local businesses some love by taking the time to vote them best in their category. Our business owners work hard all year round to bring us all of the things we enjoy from pizza to haircuts and this is a perfect opportunity to recognize them! Downtown Water Street from Brunswick Ave to Church St Closed to Vehicles: Mon 9/12, Tues 9/13, 6:30am-4pm

Sidewalks and public parking lots open!
Due to the large steel beams needed to be placed for Johnson Hall's upper floor balconies and stage, a large crane will be placed in the street on 9/12 & 9/13 (possibly 9/14 as needed). On these dates vehicles will not be allowed on Water Street from the post office intersection with Brunswick Ave through the end of the block at Church Street between 6:30am - 4:00pm.

Sidewalks will be open to pedestrian traffic will still be allowed and there will be proper signage and flaggers directing both traffic and guiding people on foot as to where they can safely pass to enter the businesses on the street. The park between the Blind Pig and Johnson Hall will need to be closed for much of this time. 

Public parking behind the downtown buildings the Arcade lot will be open, as well as street parking on other surrounding blocks.

Your patience and understanding with this disruption is appreciated as we await the incredible impact the finished opera house will have on our downtown. Travel downtown with caution during this time, or please make an extra effort to support our local businesses when the road disruption is clear.

Tea Party at Goldfinch Creamery!

Feel fancy and sophisticated or just enjoy the delicious food offerings at Goldfinch Creamery's Tea Party on Monday 9/5 at 11am! The Tea Party includes a three tiered stand with bottom tier of five different tea sandwiches, a middle tier with 3-4 kinds of muffins/scones, and top tier with four different petit fours or small dessert. It also includes and all the tea you can drink!

Shapeshifter: Opening Reception at Monkitree

Join the folks at Monkitree for the opening reception of their latest gallery show! Shapeshifter highlights work by Chelsea Ellis, Whitney Gill, and Allison McKeen and their exploration of shapes through ceramics, photography and painting.

The Mix, Face to Face Networking Night Returns

Gardiner Main Street is excited to resume our live Mix Social Networking events! Co-hosted with Bateau Brewing, this free event is open to all, whether you live, work, volunteer, or visit Gardiner. This event is a great way for those new to the area to connect with others. Celebrate our community, learn about events and happenings, and network with others. This “after hours” event takes place from 5-6:30pm, folks typically drop anytime in for as long or as short as they would like.

A Family For ME: Foster Care Virtual Open House

If you’ve ever considered foster care or adoption, this is a great opportunity to learn more. Foster and adoptive parents, as well as professionals, will be there to answer your questions not only about foster care and adoption, but also about what it means to parent teens and older youth. The First Baptist Church, 47 Church Street, is starting a baby formula bank. It will be open the first and third Mondays from 6-7 pm. This will be free and babies are welcome. Please help spread the word to moms who are having a hard time finding formula.
