Broadway Swings at Hendersonville Theatre on August 20

Concert will feature Wendy Jones with the Jason Decristofaro Trio

HENDERSONVILLE, August 4 (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) Hendersonville Theatre presents Broadway Swings on Saturday, August 20th at 3 pm and 7:30 pm. Tickets are $30 and are available online at HVLtheatre.org or by calling the Box Office at (828) 692-1082. Groups of 10 or more receive a 10 percent discount.

Returning to the Hendersonville Theater after last year’s Everything Is Rosie, Broadway Swings teams Wendy Jones teams with the Asheville-based Jason DeCristofaro Trio, featuring Jason DeCristofaro (vibes), Kevin Kehrberg (bass), and Rick Dilling (drums).

Together, they will perform memorable songs from what is known as the "Great American Songbook" – a compilation of influential American popular songs from the early 20th Century. Many became standards and the group will perform them in a jazz style while providing a bit of history and trivia about the songs and the musicals from which they originated.

The audience can expect renditions of "Come Rain or Come Shine," "Hello Young Lovers," "All the Things You Are" and more including songs by Irving Berlin, the Gershwins, and even Stephen Sondheim.

Showtimes are 3 pm and 7:30 pm. Hendersonville Theater has made masks optional for patrons, but volunteers, staff and performers are fully vaccinated. No proof of vaccination is required to attend a performance.
