Aside from the appointment, UMT also appointed 20 new foreign lecturers as part of its internationalisation strategy in teaching and learning.

Five students from UMT Buddies Club, in collaboration with International Mobility & Collaboration Centre, joined a Buddies Jamboree 2018 organized by USM Student Buddies. These 5 students also won the first runner-up prize for Best Panji Category in the Genesis Program: Buddies Jamboree @USM. Now, UMT Buddies Club has 30 students that are currently active in providing help that will strengthen the relationship between the locals and the international community. The UMT Buddies Club also provides exposure to UMT students on cultural diversity with the hope that it can make UMT as a global university.
