March 30, 2020:  Emergency Declaration - Updates
This is your weekly update from the Town of Pendleton as we navigate through this national emergency.  We are trying our best to communicate local updates and what the Town is doing to help our residents and businesses.  Pendleton Town Hall is currently closed to the public through April 6th, 2020, although staff is still available by phone or email.  This past week, your Pendleton Town Council unanimously passed the following ordinances:

We want to encourage all of you to use the South Madison Alliance website as a resource to help navigate through these trying times. If you have additional resources that you believe should be added please send us a message.  This website was established under the careful direction of the South Madison Community Foundation with assistance and input from the Town of PendletonMore Than Conquerors - MTC, the Pendleton Community Public Library, and Solutions4ebiz .

Don't forget, the Town has set up a COVID-19 Hotline.  Please leave your non-emergency message at 765-221-5029 and we will return your call within 48 hours.  We can help connect you to community resources for issues you may be facing in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Town Department Availability
Police: Non-emergency Line (765) 778-3933 (Emergency - Call 911)
The lobby area is now closed to the public. Officers are still on duty and can be reached through dispatch at 765-642-0221. The records department can be reached at 765-778-3933 or email

Fire Department:  Non-emergency Line (765) 778-2400 (Emergency - Call 911)
The Fire Department is open and doing business as usual, with additional precautions.    

Utility Office: (765) 778-2173
The Utility Office is closed to the public, but staff is available by phone or email.  Utility payments can be made online, by dropping payment in the exterior drop box at Town Hall, or by calling in at 765-778-2173.  Best Way is changing trash pick-up procedures to the following until further notice:
  • Business will be done by phone or online only (Best Way Offices are closed to the public).
  • There will be no heavy trash pick-up on Wednesdays.
  • All leaves and limbs must be in trash container for Monday pick-up.
  • All trash must be in containers.  Nothing outside of trash bins will be collected.
  • The Transfer Station on Madison Avenue will be open.  It is self-service. 
Town Court: (765) 778-0772
Town Court has been postponed until further notice.  Payments can be made online, and questions can be directed to 765-778-0772 or

Planning Department: (765) 778-8370
The Planning Department is closed to the public, but staff is available by phone or email.  Building Permit Applications are available on the Town's website and completed applications can be placed in the drop box at Town Hall.  

Park Department: (765) 778-2222
The Park Office is closed to the public, but staff is available by phone or email.  For more information about the Park, please visit their website.

Clerk-Treasurer's Office: (765) 778-7937
The Clerk-Treasurer's Office is closed to the public, but staff is available by phone or email.  

Electric, Water, Street & Cemetery Departments:
Department supervisors, foreman, and employees will be called out for emergency repairs only.  Between 9 am and 4 pm, please direct calls to 765-778-2173 and and after-hours, please call 888-491-8194.    
Board and Commission Availability
All Board and Commission meetings scheduled through April 6th have been cancelled.

In case you are not aware, the Madison County Emergency Management & Department of Homeland Security Agency has an electronic public alert and notification system in Madison County.  Mass notification will be used to communicate information when emergency situations arise in Madison County. Alerts can go to your cell, home phone, or email.  Sign up by visiting the Madison County EMA website
