Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, certain that God is appealing through us. We plead on Christ's behalf, "Be reconciled to God." He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
-2 Corinthians 5:20-21
14s Coach Chad Roof
Baseball has been a part of Chad Roof's life since he was a kid. He started playing when he was five and even played for the Huskers for a year.
Now he gets to coach his sons. In a sport like baseball it can be easy to become self centered, either fixating on your own success or your own failure. Roof said, "Baseball is a tricky sport to take the focus off of yourself, but when you are playing for Christ it helps you gain a better perspective."
He said that his favorite memories from coaching have been when he has built a relationship with one of the boys and earned their trust. When that happens he can help them work through something difficult. He also enjoys seeing the boys open up to one another and share prayer requests.
Chad is helping coach the 14s team. The coaches' goal is for the boys to learn to be good teammates, sons and examples of Christ to the people around them. Baseball can be a great way for them to learn these lessons.
Each week the team focuses on one theme. One of the themes this season was Humility. Humility is often something that we talk about needing when we experience success, but the 14s team talked about having humility when you are facing adversity as well. Chad said they tell the boys, "when you put your head down, people see that, and it affects the whole team."
For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. Luke 14:11
The team has a lot of talent and Chad is looking forward to seeing them work together and learn to finish games as a team.
April Shooting: with Wes Wilkinson
It was fun for ABA to be able to partner with former Husker Wes Wilkinson, as we worked on developing shooting skills this April! We were excited to see boys and girls from first grade all the way to eleventh grade improving their shooting.
Baseball Season Update
"Tough game tonight for the 13s, but what a great way to end it with a prayer with the other team (side note, their coach asked if we still pray after games as they were really wanting to have their players focus outwardly away from themselves and really appreciate our approach to the game and focus on Christ) It's our honor! #oneteamforhim" - 13s Coach
