Happy Easter from CCS

It's the time of year when we celebrate our Risen Lord! He is Risen! He is Risen, indeed!

Jesus' resurrection is the basis for all that we do here at Cornerstone. In fact, our living Savior is our Cornerstone and through His power, we live, love, teach, grow and fulfill His will our lives. May His resurrection empower you to be the parent, the person He has called you to be.

We wish each of you a Happy Easter.

Managing the After-School Chaos

(Article from Focus on the Family)

The school bus screeches to a stop, and my daughters race to the house, replete with worksheets, homework and recess stories. I'm overwhelmed as we juggle piano practice, tennis lessons and homework. And the kids are just as frustrated by my insistence to "get their work done" as I'm exasperated at their desire to just play. By bedtime, I'm exhausted. I regret all my nagging and wonder if I even began a meaningful conversation with my girls during our time together.

Like most parents, I want to be involved in my kids' education, to help them reach their potential, while still being a blessing in their lives. I'm learning that it takes a daily effort to balance the craziness of school life and my relationship with my children. Read entire article for a few strategies that can help you do the same.

Geography Bowl Winners

Congratulations to the winning team which included: Ella, Marco, Quentin, McKenna, & Annabella. The winning team will meet the Governor, Lt. Governor, tour the Governor's Mansion, and enjoy some time at Plex HiWire on April 25th.

Columbia Fireflies Reading Program - Ends April 23!

Time is running out for students to hit a reading homerun. Read to round all the bases. Everyone who makes it to home plate will be rewarded with a Fireflies game during school on Wednesday, May 1. Students will also receive a hot dog and special prize at the game.

K5-1st - read 1 hour per base
2nd-3rd - read 2 hours per base
4th-5th - read 3 hours per base
6th-8th - read 4 hours per base

Each base requires students to read for a certain number of minutes. This is extra reading. Class assignments and homework do not count towards your total. Students must choose books that are on your grade level of reading. For each base, students must complete a reading log with the title of their book, number of pages or chapters and time spent. Parents must sign off on reading completed at home. See the school office if you need a Reading Verification Form.

Additional tickets for the game may also be ordered at a discounted rate for parents who want to attend with their child.
