Loving Each Other @ Cornerstone!

"Dear friends, let us love one another..." 1 John 4:7
At Cornerstone the kids are friends that act like family. And when someone in the family does something great - like raise the most money for camp - we like to celebrate with pie. Congratulations Wyatt! Grace was competing against him but in this case, the loser is really the winner.

Cornerstone Student of the Month

February Students of the Month - Congratulations to Sarah and Madelyn on being the
CCS notable students for February!
The Student of the Month Program is based on qualities such as good character, leadership, and citizenship, not solely on academics. The student of the month must be a diligent student, complete his/her assignments on time; show a strong effort to learn subjects to the best of their ability; prepare for class; and, have good classroom participation. The student of the month demonstrates excellent behavior in and out of the classroom, is well mannered, and respectful to both peers and teachers. The student of the month displays excellent citizenship by working together with classmates in a cooperative attitude, and exhibiting good behavior. Many such students display leadership qualities and serve as role models for their peers. Lastly, the student of the month demonstrates exemplary character through his/her compassion, honesty, and respect by helping to create positive school environment.

Each month teachers can nominate students for that month.
The students will have demonstrated the “Big Three”:
● Make the right choices
● Treat people the way you want to be treated
● Always try to do your best

Why We Choose Cornerstone for our daughter  - By Mike and Dora Jane

(The Cornerstone Community has several families who have come together through adoption. The student's name has been shortened here since our media reaches the internet.)

We are thankful for Cornerstone Christian School because it has helped change our daughter’s life and ours. Our story begins 5 years ago when we adopted T. She was 8 years old and a product of a public school system that had deemed her unteachable and was passing her through. She had completed the third grade but could barely read “cat” and could not add 2 + 2.
She had completed one semester at another local school that was not a great fit for her educational needs. We were struggling with what option would be best for giving her a chance at starting over and catching up. The mercy of our good Heavenly Father led us to CCS where Mrs. Janet Etters offered for us to have a 3-day trial. During those 3 days, Mrs. Janet tested T and worked with her. We felt utter relief when Mrs. Janet said to us, “She is very teachable. We can start over with her, teach her the basics and she will learn.”
Today, thanks in great part to the wonderful Cornerstone staff and their excellent teaching, T is in the 5th grade performing at grade level. This very same child is now calculating mixed fractions and reading books such as Nancy Drew mysteries voraciously. Most importantly, she loves school!
CCS has been a support during some very difficult days for our family. They have been an extended family to T and have given her much love and attention that she needed. The emphasis on Christian principles, the Abeka curriculum, and the firm structure at CCS are all part of what makes this school such an amazing option for education in Kershaw County. The most important part though is the kind and caring staff who go out of their way to make sure every one of their students has a chance to succeed.

The Pen Pals Club raised $150 selling baked goods during the last Cornerstone Christian Family Night. And, anything that didn't sell was taken as a gift to the Kershaw County Police Department. Thanks to all our Pen Pals, and to Sawyer and Caroline, our Pen Pal Advisors for pulling this together.

Fun Run Update

We are already blessed to have six area sponsors and several area churches committed to bringing a group.
Committee chairmen are needed for specifics such as: Sponsorship Committee - Cleaning Committee (day of event) - Registration Committee - Safety Committee.

Please also pray for good weather and a fun day!

Areas needed:
1. Your church or group to facilitate one of the "obstacles" in our Fun Run (3-4 people could do this)
2. Tell everyone you know!
3. Recruit Sponsors from the Kershaw County area
4. Involvement - we NEED you!
5. Want to help but you're out of town? Our students are all looking for individual donors as well so ask them if you can sponsor them. Or go to the link and donate now. Or, contact us!

You can organize your family and groups from your Bible studies, churches, workplace, favorite stores, to come and do the 5K @ 9:00 and/or stay for the family event @ 10:00. An entire group can do the Fun Run for $15!! (and there's a $5 discount right now on our site.)

Why are we doing this? Cornerstone Christian doesn't aim to be a large school, but we do need to grow from our current numbers. We hope by making the Kershaw County area more familiar with our school, we will attract more families and grow as the Lord wills.
