Tombstone 5K Thank You

We are so grateful to all of the runners and walkers who came out to support our annual Tombstone 5K on Saturday, October. 19. Partnering with the Mt. Greenwood Community and Business Association and our local running store, Running Excels, we hosted almost 400 participants. It was a great day for a run! We are indebted to Little Company of Mary Hospital, our premier sponsor, Alderman Matt O’Shea for his assistance with the race, and our volunteers. We are grateful to all of our businesses who sponsored the 5K and to The Lab Nutrition for joining us to help promote health and wellness on the day of the race.

Farmers Market Wrap Up

We concluded a successful Farmers Market season last Sunday, October 27. This year’s weather was particularly challenging for us. We seemed to have more rainy Sundays than in the past few years combined. Despite the challenge of Mother Nature, we were able to offer many wonderful children’s events, musical acts, and entertainment for residents of the 19th Ward. Our community tent was bustling as it hosted numerous local organizations giving them an opportunity to showcase their work and attract new volunteers and support.

The market allows us to draw people to 95th Street and helps us showcase businesses in our association. We are grateful to those of you who come out to support the market, share our Facebook posts advertising events at the market, and participate through sponsorship. Your support helps us operate one of the best markets in the city. We are already brainstorming for next year’s market!

Special Thanks to Two Mile Coffee Bar

Congratulations to Two Mile Coffee Bar as they hit their six month anniversary of opening their doors! They have been a tremendous addition to our business district. We are so grateful for all of the work they put into designing and installing new landscaping at the 95th Street Metra Station. With the assistance of the Vanderpoel Improvement Association, the Beverly Improvement Association, the Beverly Area Planning Association, and our association, Two Mile made it happen and the end result is fantastic! They also installed a beautiful new sign advertising their business. Please stop in and give them a try if you haven’t already become a regular.

Small Business Saturday is Quickly Approaching!

Please don’t forget to send us information on special sales or promotions you plan to offer on Small Business Saturday. We’d like to help advertise anything you have planned to help attract foot traffic to 95th Street. This year Small Business Saturday is November 30. You can email your information to Erin Ross at

95th Street will be home to a pop up market on Small Business Saturday as well. We will be sharing more information in the coming weeks.
